Short for people.

Some think it is "cute" to abbreviate everything in sight...

What is next, your name is Mike, maybe you'll be Mi?

I lived thru the acronym age at GM, I guess it only make sense that the abbreviation age is upon us as well. To me it sounds like laziness.

It's just current slang, propagated by a generation who grew up texting on numeric keyboards where brevity is important.

Hence OMG!

It's a horrible tasting pink or yellow tiny marshmallow chicken that you can get at the local drug store near Easter. Most peeps (people) don't eat them. Doug

I believe the term is older than the current texting activities. It is actually outdated now and most teens would not concider using the term.

IMHO

I'd agree with that...stuff changes so quickly with kids nowadays and for me, it's very important to be in tune with what 13yr old kids are texting....however, most of them can't tell time from an analog clock anymore....I love being old and cranky....for grins, put a rotary dial phone in front of one and watch their eyes spin like reels in a slot machine....

Which you can also microwave briefly if you want them in a larger version before you eat them.

i had a discussion about this with my mom a while back... not 'peeps' in particular, but brought on by a commercial where the daughter was saying something like, "BRB... OMG, IDK... maybe like my BFF katie..."

mom's take on it was that peeps (ha! jk, lulz!) soon wouldn't be able to spell anymore. my point was that the 'internet generation' didn't invent it because i learned RSVP, SASE, ASAP, AAA, AARP etc from them. it actually makes me think of a bit robin williams did in Good Morning Vietnam. If you've seen that movie you know the part.

not to mention when i was growing up mom was a secretary here & there when money was tight so always wrote in SHORTHAND! WTF is that? it looks like freakin' alien scribbles! :?

I felt the same way about Federal Express. Calling it FedEx was cooler and more fun when it wasn't official.
