Hey!!! who'z going camping for Labor Day?

Postby doug hodder » Fri Sep 02, 2011 12:54 am

For many people, this might be the last hurrah for the summer....and for those of you in Texas and other places that had a stupidly hot summer...man, I feel for ya, seriously....and I'll be thinking of you all while I bask in lower 80's temps. Here in NorCal, it was an awesome season! I didn't even run any air this summer!

Heading out tomorrow to a local USFS campground with the Nomad and the Rocketear owners (Penny and Rich), only 35 miles from home...Big trees, lake and maybe a bear or 2. 4 days of camping/cooking/ goofing off at 5K feet....hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend. We will toast all you other campers this weekend and hope you have a great/safe one. Doug

I try to never camp on the holiday weekends. Too many people, too loud, etc.

labor day weekend camping

Postby G.Payne » Fri Sep 02, 2011 7:21 am

Making the maiden voyage this weekend in the "lil bit" with my fiance and our families. It is one last getaway before our wedding at the end of the month. We leave tomorrow for Hershey, PA. :)

Way too hot in Arkansas, too. Plus, I have a cabin on the White River near Mountain Home, so that is where I am headed.

+1 on too crowded and too hot.

(But the South Central section has an outing planned for the following weekend. Here's hoping for cooler weather.)

Mt. Hood National National Forest campground. This is my first year with my raindrop and will be my 3rd outing and 1st on a holiday weekend. Hadn't thought about crowded and noisy. Oh well, I plan on having fun anyway. 8)

Well not camping but beach housing, does that count? Big party starts today and kinda winds down by Monday. So ready for the beach!

Too crowded here at campgrounds for me during the Labor Day weekend, although I may sneek off Monday and go fishing in my kayak.

Plus, I'm finishing the Verna-do list of improvements in the SideKick. There's a week-long camping trip coming up soon. :ilovecamp:
