Teardrop in a Gazebo/Screen Room?

Screen room

Postby P'colaTear » Fri Aug 19, 2011 11:32 pm

I use a screen room every time I set up. It is a 10x13 Coleman screen room with 2 D shaped doors of two sides. I push the TD into the screen room and zip it up around the TD. Only the spare tire and the tongue are exposed. I have plenty of room inside. I don't like to be constantly coated with bug spray and this really helps. Being a single female that camps by myself most of the time, I have a sense of personal space within the screen room. I always have people stop by and comment on my set up. Women especially seem to like it. I think that being inside the screen room actually draws more attention.

I find it will depend more on the weather, the type of insects you get and how far you have to travel home.

several years ago At Mount Shasta at the Dam Gathering we got 6.5 inches. everything was soaked inside the trailer. On top of that the cooler leaked inside it too. (no Pickup truck) We were a long way from home we were going to stay at a motel but found family who let us sleep there. When we got home it took days to dry out. If we had had a cover and had used it we would have had more time to spend and stopped more places as we drove home.

So my vote is Depends.....

We've rolled the teardrop back under the 10 by 10 shelter with side walls several times. Once was when it was cold out, once was when it was rainy out (and we wanted to step out under cover), and once was when we were parked really close to other campers (not a gathering, just a really tight campground).

Though it is tight under the 10 by 10, Mark and I managed to make it work, and it was nice to have a dry/warm/private place to change clothes without having to put up a second tent of any kind. It's a simple matter to roll the teardrop in and out. Looks funny though!

No screens, but my Gander Mountain Falcon covers 10x18, covers the teardrop and then some...

We just got back from a 7-day trip to the Buffalo River, in Yellville, Arkansas. We took this picture and I meant to take another one before we broke camp, but we kayaked a total of 25-miles in 6-days and we were just whooped...forgot to take more pictures.

We loved the Texsport 17x15 Party Hut...pushed the Little Guy to one side, so the Galley had most of the screen room. We kept both doors tied open, so the teardrop could be seen (during the daylight hours). At night, we zipped it up and we were mosquito free, sitting inside the gazebo. We will definitely use it again (on longer trips) but probably won't mess with it on short trips.

The teardrop could definitely be seen, through the screen walls and through the open doors. Everyone in the campground (including the Rangers) seemed to stop by, and ask to see our teardrop.

This picture is the view, through one of the screen walls...it was even better, through the open doors.

Sue,
That canopy looks different than the one you had at Wolf Creek. Did you change your mind about that one? How was the Burn? Can't wait to hear your stories. Ocean Cove in October?

I use a Coleman Event 15. Got 3 side walls for privacy. No screen walls tho.
I set it up and back up under it.
It's no longer avaliable in the US.

That looks really nice for your teardrop.

Were you at Buffalo Point? You should do the Rush to Buffalo City float someday. It's a 3 day/2 night float, but is so beautiful.

I'm at Buffalo City right now where I have a cabin on the White River. The Buffalo is about 400 yds. downstream.

Yes, we were at Buffalo Point. We floated TO Rush, but no farther than that...we started out from Spring Creek, Dillard's Ferry, and Buffalo Point...different trips on different days. We really want to take a long "overnight" trip. We love river trips. We even talked about Rush to Buffalo City. Maybe next year.

Here's my trip report:

OK, now I'm going to have to get a life jacket for Sunny Day so she can go kayaking with me!!!!

Thanks for the pics--sounds like a great vacation.

I have 2 dogs, and one of them loves to kayak, and the other one seems to really hate it! They have kayaked the Buffalo National River, the White River, Santa Rosa sound, and numerous other lakes/rivers.

Besides the life jackets, I sometimes use a long leash to clip to the life jacket and the kayak itself, so I can reel them back in if I am in fast moving water.
