I don't think milage was an issue in the 30's. There wasn't much of highways and speeds where moderate compared to today. And back then cars pulled trailers not very many trucks as they where bulit for work not pleasure. But yes weight and size are all factors.

Yep, it's a double whammy!!! Weight, and wind resistance. Either one will kill your mileage if it's overwhelming.

Your best bet is to build a narrow, low teardrop, and buy the beer when you get to the campground. You know, 23 18 packs of beer is 506 pounds. That'll set your mileage on it's ear!!!

Lighten your load....buy the hard stuff...more buzz for the buck and less weight. Seriously though....in Wyoming you can run much higher speeds than we can here in Ca. Cut your speed down and watch the mileage go up. I was really surprised at how my mileage increased when doing the "posted" speed limit as opposed to running close to 65 with the Nomad. Doug
