Saying 'peeps' for people in Britain started from a 1980s sketch show character - Stavros, a Greek kebab seller. The comedy was always topical, so 30 years later in a different country, it won't make much sense:

'LOL' means Laughing Out Loud. 'LMBO' means Laughing My Butt Off'. I don't have a problem with using 'peeps' every once in a while and when I do, I do it with affection for my friends. But one thing that totally irks me is when someone uses '2' over and over in a sentence in place of 'to' or 'too'. Very annoying.

I use 'peeps'...I hope I haven't offended anyone. I like marshmallow peeps (they are cute, I don't eat them) so calling people 'peeps' is an affectionate thing. Like "the peeps in my scooter club like camping...but they usually tent camp!"

I don't think I've called any of you people 'peeps' yet since I'm new here, but I'm sorry if I used it and offended anyone.

We have always called our avalanche beacons "Peeps".
Or Pieps http://www.backcountry.com/pieps-freeri ... che-beacon is a brand name or "peeps" is generic for any avalanche transceiver.
