Hi Anita Rae,

Thanks for the info. I'll file it away for future reference.

I really don't understand why they don't actively market
them here - seems to be a great solution.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

I am back at work on the Fairy Diddle. I got discouraged and needed to step back and regroup.

First the floor that we had under a tarp got seriously wet and we had to rebuild it.

But the big problem was when I realized that me trailer had a slight tilt toward the drivers side. So a few weeks ago, I started taking it apart. I believe the problem was with the roof. I believe that the first piece of roof that I put on was cocked about 1/4 inch, which made the second peice cocked about 1/2 inch and it just got worse from there.

So hubby bought me a big ol' square and showed me where to find the big ol' level. And he expained the difference between level, plumb and flush. LOL Holy cow, what have I got myself into. What would I do with out him.? He is also helping me get it back together straight this time.

So I took some time off to lick my wounds.

When I got the roof off, I also noticed that some of the walls had a slight bow in them. I think that is from being glued together all crooked while sitting in a supper hot garage. So as I go back with the roof, I am trying to add some inside walls to brace the outside walls.

So I might be a little down right now, but I never completely give up.

AR, don’t sweat the little things .... my little Foamie certainly isn’t perfect in it’s symmetry , but as long as the construction is sound , a little deviation from square won’t matter , and nobody else will ever notice ... Helps the rain roll off easier , that may be a "Good Thing" ... :o

That square (and info) is a Nice gift !!! Very helpful !!! +1 for Hubby !!!

I've worked on it all day and it is still doing the same thing. The roof runs off in one direction.

OK, another option, I could take it to the mountains. As long as I went in one direction, it might correct that nasty little tilt. But it would be really bad when I had to come back in the other direction.

Slept in this morning. I will get some pics for ya. After coffee.

If I remember, I first noticed this after we put it on the floor. The floor is setting on a frame with rollers that DH built me so that I could roll it in and out of the garage. So I am going to try to slip that frame out from under it and see if maybe, just maybe that is the source of my problem. There ARE some uneven spots in the floor which Charlie says is caused by the floor sitting on the frame. I am gonna be a little ticked at myself if I've take this whole thing apart and then I realize that it was the frame that it sits on.

OK, I had to beat up on the camera to get it to work, but here goes.

I never meant to show the earlier pics because it wasn't right. I went through all of the old ones looking for something that would show the tilt but none of them show it. Anyway, here is where I was before I took it apart.

Image

Here is a couple of the bracing that I added after I took the roof off to straightend and support the walls.

This is of the level on the passenger side wall now. Still a little off but not much. It was about 1 1/2 inch difference between the top and the bottom before I took it apart.

This is how we put the roof on. The wood is glued to one peice and then the next peice it fitted on. The screws and washers are on both the inside and outside to hold it and to keep the roof from bowing until the glue sets.

Hmmmm, Fat finger accidently hit the submit button.

Here is the problem. Now remember these walls have been cut apart 3-4 times so they are getting pretty messy.

Notice the screw. I used that to try to force the roof straight and attach it to the wood door. All that did was make my walls go wonky again. So I cut it apart one more time.

This is my work buddy. He's not much help but he's good company. No he can't go camping with me.

Here is the floor plan for now. But...I am WOMAN...it might change. It already has changed many, many times.

Weeeeellll, you are not going to believe this. I've worked all day (with lots of breaks) and I got the floor and the trailer jacked up. Then I rolled the rack out from under it and I set the trailer back on the garage floor. I don't understand it??? It looks like the walls and the roof are going to line up perfectly. :o It never even occured to me that the rack that it was sitting on could cause it to be out of alignment like that. Geesh! this has been a nightmare. But I am now going to be a happy camper because I can move foward instead of back tracking.

GPW, I did notice it...and that's the problem. I couldn't stand the thoughts of it going down the road looking like it had been on a good drunk.
