Camp Ground question

I have been scoping out some camp grounds online. I have to admit that I haven't stayed in a camp ground since I was a kid. I don't think they even had rule back then. But I notice that most of the ones I looked at say "domestic pets only". Hmmm, they're not talking about sugar gliders or flying squirrels, now are they? How closely do they monitor things like that?

I imagine if you keep your pet in a escape proof enclosure they'll not be likely to say much.
Why would you want to take such a pet camping??

I've taken them with me to lots of places but mostly we have stayed in hotels and cabins. I guess I have control issues because I like to have them with me so I can see that they get fed correctly and taken care of. I never even thought that they might not be welcome in a camp ground. I always look for "pet welcome" places to stay. I wonder if that is going to remove a lot of camp grounds from my list?

I would think as long as you kept them hidden, you would be fine.

Is your vet not able to handle boarding them when you are gone?

Well sure, my vet could handle them. But I prefer to have them with me. So I guess what you guys are trying to say is that I probably shouldn't try to sneak them in.

OK, I could always call the camp ground pryer to making a reservation and ask. In the past, I've got apoval from a couple of places when I eplain the size and the habitat of a sugar glider. And yes they would be caged while we travel. And if a camp ground is not an option, there is always boon docking.

I wouldn't tell/ask the campground anything...it's not a dog, you won't be walking 'em or allowing 'em to run loose...better to seek forgiveness than ask permission and be denied(and then doing it anyway)........

Sounds like your pets are domestic as opposed to a wild pet. Of course, my thinking is that all pets are domestic.

I say bring'em and tell everybody they are my pet and all pets are domestic.

Oh you guys, you make me laugh.

I called the Forestry service phone number listed on one of the campground sights and I talked to a nice young lady named Rosie. At first I got the ol' "Sugar Glider, whats that". I explained that they are small animals similar to hamsters and she said "uh, I don't think so..." Then explained that I need a yes or no. She put me on hold and then said that I could bring them with me as long as I keep them inside the cage and inside the trailer. YAY

Sometimes it helps that most people don't know exactly what a Sugar Glider is. But I just got permission to bring mine to any Forestry camp ground in FL.

LOL well John, we have a dog, but we also have a rule: Family members don't eat family members.

So I will love on your little rat terrier but the new rule will need to be something like: camper guests don't eat fellow campers.

My emus are domesticated pets but I don't think I'd get a yes.

Especially when they stand about 5 feet tall and make drumming sounds half the night. That drum sound really travels in the dark. LOL

An Emu? KewL! You just bring that big ol' bird over to my camper and it can stay with me. Heck, it ain't nuthin' but a long legged chicken.

I like animals. All kinds of animals....but I don't do snakes. I don't mind if others do snakes but I just don't do snakes.
