small scale replicas

Postby jasen7 » Wed Sep 14, 2011 5:26 pm

If you could purchase a handmade, wooden, small scale replica of your Teardrop or Tiny Trailer, would you? The reason I ask is because in the winter months you can usually find me out in my shed building birdhouses, decorations, furniture, or anything else the local buyers are looking for.

Lately though I have been looking for something new to build. I have looked on the web and have not come up with much at all, as far as small scale replicas of campers. I did come across a few campers but they are not sold as a replica of a privately owned camper. Also the ones I have seen seem to be made out of one solid piece of wood or resin.

If I decide to start building these, I am thinking of going 1:8 scale which would roughly be 12'' x 7'' before adding the tongue. These would also be built on a wooded frame with possibly wooden leaf springs, rubber tires, and working lights. The options could go on and on.

Before I start though, I was wondering if anyone might think there would be buyers for something like this.

Now that would be cool. And maybe have it as a birdhouse would be neat.

We have a birdhouse that is shaped like a TD and is currently occupied - but it doesn't look like our DA MOOSE and it would be nice to have one that will house a nice family of birds......

Thanks

i have seen bird houses, and feeder teardrops before. also a teardrop mail boxes.

bet if you made them and brought them to gatherings you would sell a few, not only to tearjerlers, but to other campers as well. who can resist the cute factor of a teardrop?

i have thought about keyrings, and other things myself. i do make a cool fire ring with teardrop trailers cut out in the side that look so cool at night with a fire. but they are sort of big to haul around.

they could be used as mail boxes
