Contemporary Fiberglass Trailers- Object of scorn?

Postby wjriling » Fri Feb 24, 2006 10:01 am

Good morning all,

My first time to the forum as I am about to buy my first teardrop. I am actually going to buy a Little Guy tomorrow and just wanted to get some feedback. You all have incredibly beautiful, classic Teardrops and I was just curious if anyone looks at the newer Little Guys with dismay (they're cute, but not especially classic). I only ask because I am also a classic Boston Whaler owner (not for long, though, it's sale will help finance my teardrop) and Whaler owners are quite the elitist when it comes to classic Whalers vs any other boats.

I appreciate your comments and if anyone is familiar with the Little Guys and their quality, etc. those comments are appreciated also.

Regards,
Wendy

Wendy,

I doesn't matter what type of teardrop you have! Just get what you want/ can afford and joint the fun. Nobody on this board with snub you, no matter what kind of tear you have. :)

PS: You have to post pictures of it as soon as possible to really be accepted here!!!! (madjack's rules)

Wendy,, first and foremost welcome to the forum,,, 2nd all that Kerry said,, build, buy, borrow what you are most comfortable with,, As far as the Little Guy, the quality seems to be good from the few I have seen,, You will customise, accessorize,, and tweek your trailer to your own taste and personal likes real soon anyway and this is what will make it unique,,,

This whole tiny trailer thing is not just about what ya pulling ,, its a lot more about the social aspects of getting together with a bunch of new friends,, We generally eat real good,,, share a few drinks,,, have a lot of laughs, and tell some of the biggest lies ya ever heard,,

Jump on in and make ya plans for ya first trip and teardrop get together

chipper

Hi Chip!

I'm soooooooooo excited I suspect the dogs and I will be sleeping in it this weekend!

Thanks for your warm welcome. Teardroppers sound like just as much fun as boaters- food, drink, laughs and big lies! (my tales are so tall they're listed in the Guiness World Book!)

This is gonna be good!

Cheers,
Wendy

I've encouraged my supervisor (who's a single female who wants to get a teardrop once the dust settles on moving into her new house) to look into Little Guy trailers. They are cute, lite weight and she can pull them with her Honda.

I don't think the terms "teardrops" and "elitist" go together. Heck, we're sleeping in coffins, cooking rough and peeing out in the woods! And at gatherings folks sometimes try to outdo each other in "tacky trailer decorations!" Sort of a reverse elitist focus.

Chip's theme involves pickle juice and alcohol. Ours involves possums. Jean (my supervisor) has already decided hers will have something to do with dancing fruit.

Hi Gail,

I'm a photographer so I was thinking I was going to wrap it with some really great scene. My boat always had a pirate theme, aye, but the woods creates a whole new set of creative challenges. Usually my "always worn while camping" union suit with the missing rear flap button qualifies as tacky to most.

Cheers,
Wendy

Settle down now Chip. Welcome aboard Windy. Know about those boat people. I have a '59 Glasspar Del Mar. Some of them are just outright snobs. But then again, there are a lot of fun people there also. Enjoy your new Teardrop.

Have a good day.

Yep, you fit right in.

I had the opportunity to borrow a friend's Lil Guy trailer for a weekend outing and they are nice little trailers that tow well.

Welcome to the nut house,
Scott F.
