I finally wired up my electrical system yesterday.

Steve, I got the battery from a local auto parts store. It cost me $160. I got an $8 refund for turning in an old non-working trolling motor battery. My final cost was $152 + 5% Mass. sales tax.

There are much cheaper deep cycle batteries out there. The Kuffel Creek plans call for a tounge mounted battery box. I installed my battery in the lower galley cabinet to reduce my tounge weight. This small cabinet also houses my fusebox and inverter. I used the Optima yellow top battery because it is sealed. It won't outgas unless I severly over charge it.

I know this is an old post, however, when looking at yor battery install, is that the earth ground (ground block to trailer frame) I see going through the floor at the bottom front right corner of the battery? What did you seal it with? Silicone?

I am doing a very similar install...... ok, I copied yours!

No Earl, that wire passing through the floor connects my tailight circuit to the license plate holder mounted on my hatch. I did not ground the the battery to the frame. I sealed it with latex caulk.

No Ira, I am not building another trailer right now. But, I think about it all the time. For the time beiing, I'm planning trips and shopping for accessories for the upcomming camping season.

Thanks Tom! No earth/frame ground on the battery. I thought one would want that ground in place. Like a car's 12v system.

I copied Tom's idea, just need to add the inverter and order my deltran unit. Otherwise, all wired up.

Earl, They call it a floating circuit when it is not earthed to your frame. Provided everything is fused and earthed directly to the battery you basically have a torch type circuit. No problems with doing it this way and eases the problem of crossed circuits with the vehicle if you have a short in either.

just a quick question about it:
Curious about your wiring...the 2 120v plugs that you plug into your inverter are they wired to the fuse box or just to the outlets themselves...if so how many outlets do they provide power to? Any info or pics that would be useful are greatly appreciative!!!!
