Anyone used a roof skin like this?

I found this in an Ebay seller's store. It's large pieces of rubber RV roofing membrane. He has them listed for pretty cheap and even shipping to my house is cheap for the size of the material. I was thinking of going with aluminum for my final roof skin but this stuff would save me a couple hundred bucks! So my question is, has anybody used anything like this before? Thoughts? Experiences?

I was thinking of (if I got it) to use a type of contact cement rolled onto the lauan roof skin with some extra sealant at the edges, vent hole, etc. and lay this over the roof and roll over the top of it to seal it tight and then use the usual corner trim and sealants for all of the edges. Good idea?

I have this roof system on my Travel Trailer.
Other then that all you would need is some aluminum trim and the adhesive.

Thanks for the reply! I just searched and found this very dealer in a previous post. Guess I should have searched first! But this stuff looks promising! I'm going to try and find a local retailer so I won't have to risk it getting all banged up in shipping.

Couple questions...

Did you seal the under skin before you put this stuff on or did you just let the adhesive act as a sealer? ie: sealing the top plywood layer with CPES before adhesive, etc.

And are there different grades or thicknesses that I should watch out for? I've seen people talk about 45ML. Is this a standard thickness/grade?

I would seal the plywood first and then give it a slight sand to allow the adhesive to adhere to the plywood and roof. My trailer came from the factory with it. Don't lay it too tight, just lay it. As it will shrink and expand with the weather. Dicor makes great products and actually sells everything you need in a kit, but its about $700.

Couple more questions for you wa_flyfisher...

Is the adhesive meant to be applied directly to the plywood roof skin and the the rubber is rolled onto that? Might be a stupid question but hold on. LOL.

When you apply the adhesive, do you also apply the sealant to the plywood edges before laying the rubber down? Or is the sealant for using on top of the rubber between your aluminum trim, vent, etc.?

I think I'm pretty much sold on the rubber roofing!!!

Yes, the adhesive is what you attach the rubber to the wood with.
Use the stuff in the tube for around any roof penetrations (screws, vents,etc.)
