What's that 3 inch space you have running across the bottom, under the hatch, for? A table? Firearms? Ventilation? Just wondered...

That was an oops......I didn't take into account the walls sitting on top of the frame and not on the sides. There for when I marked and drilled every thing out....I was left with that "step".....

Ah... You could put it to good use... Put a tiny access hinged drawer front on it, and use it for something like fishing rods, or a table...

The trick to working with errors is to make them look like design features. You'll come up smelling like a rose every time! 8)

Spadinator,

That looks good. Bet you'll be glad to get camping.

Did you cut out your hatch after you put the spars in? If so How did you know how much to cut the top notch? It looks like it goes in a bit.

Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks Miriam......I did install the hatch spars first then cut the hatch. I scribed a lined 2 1/2 inches in from the edge of the hatch and cut that. I also installed the hinge before I cut it out so when I was finished the hatch opened and was already cut to shape.

THis idea was posted here a while ago.......http://www.richardflake.com/galleyhatch.htm It worked great for me.
