My name is shane I live in a small historic town in the n e corner of tn. I've lurked around here for a couple years. Checking out every ones. Builds for ideas. Boy did I get some. Like a lot of rookies I started with the weekender for my first build. Ayter about 75% completion it was ruined by a flood in my basement because I thought it was more cost effective to spend my money on materials first and buy trailer later. 2 feet of water changed my mind for me. Now I am in the middle of designing. A new one. Actually. I'm. Borrowing ideas from. A lot of members. Especially. All. Of. The stewart builds. And al s. Weekend for 5. Can't wait to share progress. And. Of course. The pics. Gotta have a lot of picks. Something I didn't have of my first

Look forward to watching your progress. What town are you in?

I live in greeneville tn. I'm half way between. K town. And bristol. The benroy was one of my first choices to. But I'm trying to fit 4 in 1 small space. My Problem now is deceiding which way to go. We go to myrtle beach. 2 or 3 times a year so I. Want something. Light and. Areo. But. Be able to stay in along the way.
But the rest of the summer we go to gatliburg. Its 45 miles on somewhat level. Roads and those 3 factors are not that big a deal. I'm ready to make sawdust but. I'm stuck

Family camper

Postby Alfred » Fri Nov 04, 2011 12:20 am

Hey Shanester,

Greetings from the other side of the mountain! I am always interested in the different approaches for building a camper intended for family use! Myrtle Beach is awesome, we go every Summer. Took the Weekender-for-5 this year, for the first time. Gatlinburg is cool, too - Close to Dollywood, Coleman Outlet, Lodge Cast Iron Outlook, and the Bass Outdoor Store. Keep us posted as to your progress!

Also, be sure to check out the Tenn Chapter of the Tearjerkers. http://www.Tearjerkers.net They sponsor gatherings from time to time.

How we built a 5x8 camper for a family of 5, using a utility trailer with an incorporated bunk bed for the kids.
From plain trailer to campground!

Millons drive for days to get here but we never go. But instead drve 7 hrs to myrtle beach. 2 -3 times a year. Can't catch. Shark or stingray at dollywood
