New addition to silver shadow

Postby wincrasher » Sat Oct 01, 2011 5:54 pm

I got this lockable aluminum box to add to my tear. Took off the old platform and used the four mounting points to bolt down the new box.

On my last trip, I just had stuff bungeed onto the platform. Was worried someone might help themselves while I was in having lunch. Now should be no worries. Think this thing is 25 lbs or less. Was $300 on amazon.

Not knowing what you pull with and how much tongue weight you can stand if your tow can handle the weight then you did good!!

out of sight out of mind and out of the weather all good things.

nice find.

Could I maybe get a link to that tool box? 25 lbs is much lighter for one that big than I've seen.

I didn't even consider taking the platform off of my reverse tear. I am looking for something similar. Was even thinking about making a box to fit the 22" x 60" area of the platform. I just put dirty things in there like chairs, tarps and groundcloths.

Just do a search on amazon for "truck box". Make sure you are looking at aluminum or plastic - steel is way too heavy. For the box I bought, it said shipping weight was 75lbs. That was way, way off. Not planning on anything heavy in it, just loose, bulky stuff, so my tongue weight should be below 200lbs loaded.
