Camping at Zion National Park

Postby goramsey » Tue Oct 04, 2011 7:38 pm

I made it to Zion National Park. Here is my blog to follow along. Love Zion. Wow!!! What a place to hang out.

Now if only the government would spend some money on fixing the place up. The place has gone down the crapper big time. Still fun to go. What do you mean fix americas infrastructure?? Are you crazy??

Zion is beautiful! We went there when we were kids and you could walk through the rivers between giant rock walls in a ravine. I will always remember it.... Looking at your photos makes me want to hurry and finish the gnome so I can get out in the wild again...

Thanks for the photos goramsey

All of you who are publishing trip pics of Zion and other national parks around there are making many of us drool with anticipation of seeing them first-hand. (Or, is it first-eye?)

Thanks for posting, Gary. Your pictures and stories are a pleasure to read. Hope your ankle and arm are feeling better! :O

Zion

If time allows while in the area of Zion National Park I would add Brice national Park to the itinerary as well. Spectacular and very different parks and never regretted seeing either. ;)

The last time we went to Zion was about 5 years ago. They had closed most of the roads to traffic and had begun using trams. "This is gonna suck", sez I. We parked in our spot and never moved our TV again for the whole week. Trams arrived every 10 or 15 minutes, made a loop of the park and dropped you off wherever you chose. There is even a tram that takes you into town if you want to shop or eat out. It was really nice, no traffic or hassle. I understand Bryce is the same way now. Both are on our must see list whenever we're in the neighborhood. They're both so beautiful, yet different. Bryce is all "down', Zion is all "up".

Wow, interesting! I do remember some of the roads having some very sharp switchbacks and getting a little green around the gills going up and down them. This was in the summer of 1986. Thanks for the picts!!
