What about this trailer as a TTT????

I have found this nice lightweight little trailer for sale in town. It s 8X4X4. Made of fiberglass. Would it be possible to put window and doors on this trailer? Would this be a good candidate for a teardrop like trailer?!

I have never work with fiberglass so not sure how window would go into this so everyone expertise would be greatly appreciated!

There certainly are sum talented members on here who can help ya with this build..

I'm no expert on fiberglass( heck, I dunno a THING about it ), but cutting it and installing windows,etc. shouldn't be too difficult.

That rear door is what concerns ME...Where would ya put the galley ? And the sides seem quite short fer a door ..

Should be lite weight tho !

Cute little rig although a bit short and narrow for me, but on the galley, maybe remove the existing door and put in some kind of drip down kitchen area. At least a shelf to put stove or whatever on. Could just make that in the top half and leave bottom open to the cabin for longer bed.

the windows cut into the sides should be a fairly easy thing to do.

you could build something onto the door so when it's open the gally would

open with it but do you really need one?

a camp-box would hold everything you need.

In rereading the original post I do see that he said nothing about adding a galley, so we may have jumped the gun and just assumed lol

Galley or no galley I'd certainly want to do something to improve the looks of that rear door area, try to hide that cargo door look.

I would build a little galley, but something simple and pulling out of the trailer as you open the door. The door can also be use to hook tons of kitchen supplies....so could end up been a nice little practical kitchen!!!

My main conern are; is 4 feet wide too small for me and my girlfriend to sleep in????

and if it would be possible to put a side door and window to make it look nice and bright inside! Seems like most think it would be fine!

I m entertaining the idea as the trailer is very cheap and close to my place. I will go take some mesurement this weekend and see it in person!


oh...i m new here! Been reading this awesome forum for awhile now and i have camp a lot all over north america. I do triathlon as a professional and always wanted a little trailer to sleep in going to some races and during long road trip...seems like i found the right forum!!

I would say on the gf issue that it depends on if you like your space while sleeping or closer. For my wife it'd be heaven, but for me, well he double toothpicks lol

Might suggest laying out a 4' wide mattress of sorts and trying it.

I've seen a couple of these around and finally figured they must be "toy haulers" for a motorcycle. But I did get to thinking as you have done.

Side door and window are possible but having had a 4' x 4' by true 8' my wife and I found it too small for the two of us (and especially with the two puppies). Having said that I did alright in it. If you slept feet toward the front you should be OK.

I did not want nor have a galley but you could possibly put a shelf or cabinet over the feet at the nose end.

I think the problem is the point on the front limits how long of a mattress you can put in there. I just don't see enough room even if it want all the way to the back.

Having just built a 4x7 sleeper with an outside kitchen
there is a challange to get all the goodies in a smaller
and smaller package.

In this drawing you see 2 side tables added to the nose
of the trailer.


Just like any other side table they are simply cut at an
angle. The support leg could go to the tongue or the ground.

The rear door is swung 90 degrees open a pull out floor
(think under counter cutting board) slides out and now
extends the square sleeping area to 9'6" ish. The floor
clips to the door for partial support but a saw horse type
support would probably be best. The blue wall is hinged
to the open edge of the trailer door and the red wall with
door incorporated is hinged to the blue.

O.K. from there I am at a loss for a roof... fiberglass
rods and a tarp

Maybe an ez up maybe a pull out roof similar to
the floor ?????

The dotted line could be an added bulkhead wall making
a storage closet or shelving out of the nose. Even better
would be to leave the wall solid and add rv type cargo
bin doors to the nose from the outide for even easier
access.

Just some more of my insane ideas.

Thats what I was thinking but I still don't think there is enough rectangular space for two people to sleep. Unless you do what bobhenry is suggesting and make a slide out.

A slide out out the back and maybe somehow make the galley in the nose section since you really can't use that as interior sleeping space.

Or if there is enough space, a galley on the back of the slide out.

Just think of making an accordion style trailer.

Yea but you can't cut your body up to fit an odd shape.

Its not the width but the length that's the issue.
