At first reading I was totally confused by your description but continued to think about it and it finally made sense. 20 years ago I would have got it right off the bat i.e., a parallel transfer to the cardboard, which goes to prove that getting old ain't for sissies. Thank you!

On another subject, is anybody going to pimp on me if the grain of the upper galley cabinet runs 180 degrees to the grain on the lower cabinets because it will if I use the remainder of the 4x8 sheet of 3/4" oak I have left. Hey, it's just a cargo trailer so who cares. I simply do not want to spend another $44 on another sheet of oak ply just to satisfy grain direction critics... they are forewarned.

Thank you! I got started on the upper galley but, as typical of Idaho, the weather went from 90 plus degrees one week to rain and 50's the next. It has been raining here for the past two days straight, and I mean heavy rain... as in downpour type. I hope it breaks soon because I would like to get going on the upper galley facia since we're hoping to make at least one more camping trip out in the CT before winter totally sets in. Not that that will stop us but progress would be good.

How's your 5x8 coming?

I am truly ready for a weather change. For the past four months it has been mid 90's to low 100's here. I don't do well in the heat. The cooler weather is much welcomed... until it turns to freezing.



Going to try and get templates cut for the upper galley facia this next week and then cut the oak ply and trim to fit. Once that's done I will go shopping at Habitat for Humanity for suitable overhead galley cabinet doors (wish me luck on that one ).

My current plan is to get the upper galley area cabinets finished then move on to final insulation in the upper corners and then to wall paneling.

I have no well conceived/thought out plan for my conversion so am just taking it as it goes, or should I say facing the obstacles as they present themselves.

I followed the southern/midwest weather this summer because of my family roots that lead back to Oklahoma and Louisiana. You folks got slammed with horrid temps and humidity for the longest time I ever recall, not to mention no rain. I'm glad you made it through it. As Chief Dan George said in the movie The Outlaw Josie Wales, "We must endeavor to persevere." and I suspect that is exactly what you had to do this past summer. I tip my hat to you for your perseverance.

That works.

On my Featherlite I started with the futon. Anything else just had to fit around that. Then I remember thinking, 'Humm...that v-nose would make for a good computer desk and not interfere with the door.' I ended up sketching a few lines on the trailer floor for the closet and cabinet just to see how deep I should build them.

Strange but it was actually cooler down your way than up here in the Shreveport area.

It was definitely not typical up here. We broke record for number of days over 100° that was set back in the 1800s. We had 62 days over 100°. The old record was 47. Also broke high temp record for several individual days. I think 109° was the highest "official" temp / record for this year. We had numerous days over 105°. It was a miserable summer.

Rain? What's that? It's as dry as I've ever seen it here. The lakes are more like puddles now. I grew up on Caddo Lake. I have never in my 48 years seen it as low as it is right now.

We've had a lot of wildfires around here this year too. That's something I've never seen before either.

Dave, that sounds awful .... I grew up in Shreveport till I was 12... long time ago ... Great place , Nice people !!! The weather was always nice , save those occasional Tornado warnings ...
The Heat did rather extend waaay North this summer past ... more to come ... Looks to be COLD Winter too ...

All what you’re used to I guess .... when it gets in the lower 70’s here , I’m looking for a sweater...

FYI, rain barrels really helped through the drought , kept my little food garden going through our Months of No rain .... very atypical as it usually rains most every day here in the summer ... trying to plan ahead for whatever...
