I have a Nissan Versa and it says the same thing as your Yaris, Not For Towing. The reason is that our cars are Very light weight, not because of the transmission.

So picture you're going down hill on a wet road and you need to stop. You hit the brakes and 1,000 pounds of trailer is pushing from behind. You're probably going to spin and jack knife.

Build a light weight foamy and/or put trailer brakes on. Trailer brake kits are about $500 from Northern Tool.

Good luck with your build.

Chicken Little hahaha That's funny. :lol:

Of course you do realize that your Scion XB weighs almost 1,000 pounds more than his Toyota Yaris. :thinking:

That will make a huge difference when towing a camper, and being able to Stop a camper.

So it's not that I'm chicken, I'm just not reckless.

http://www.toyota.com/yaris/specs.html

Cargo volume [1] (cu. ft.) 15.3
Fuel tank (gal.) 11.1
Seating capacity 5

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
2006 Scion xB Exterior Features
Curb weight on the XB is only 122 # Heavier unless your are adding in me and the bride and then we are getting closer to your number :lol:
I get in trouble every time I post stuff like this. I am trying to get everyone killed etc. I towed Chubby with the Scion almost 1500 miles to several gatherings as it was the newest and most dependable car we had at the time. I now have a D1500 fullsize Dodge P/U with the 6 cylinder in it . We now use it because we have it and we can now haul firewood and messy grills and coolers and tote boxes in the bed of the truck. However, back "when", we used the scion. I felt real bad when I finally had Chubby weighed and found out he was 1830 # loaded ready to camp. All that behind a 2415 pound 4 cylinder car. :oops:
I never felt reckless, but I guess I was,
cause I never had a wreck! :rofl2:
From 2007 Toyota Yaris Hatchback owners manual
Towing capacity (except for Canada)
Toyota does not recomend towing a trailer with your vehicle
Towing capacity (for Canada)
318kg (700 lb.)
towing capacity means the maximum gross trailer weight.
:thinking: Are Canadians smarter or better drivers than Americans?
Or are there too many lawers in America and Toyota is covering their rear-end? :thinking:
The biggest factor in safe towing is THE NUT BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL
We ain't skeer'd of the dark!
