small VS LARGE short vs LONG

Postby pete42 » Sun Oct 09, 2011 2:15 pm

As some of you may know I would like to convert a 7X12 cargo trailer but health is holding me back a little.

I don't want a regular travel trailer or toy hauler they are to high and to long.

My "friend" keeps saying you need to get a 14 or 16 footer 6' 6" high

TD's forget about it she thinks you people are nuts.

just what is it about some people who can not wrap their minds around everything doesn't have to be the biggest?

Pete , two possibilities :
1. They’ve never really camped out in a pup tent ... probably nothing smaller than the Holiday Inn...
2. They’ve never had to maintain/wash a tall trailer ...

I will second GPW and add he has not paid for the gas to haul a big wind resistance, sail area is important.
Mock up what you plan on using cardboard or... and see how you like it, a number on this forum have done exactly that.

Like I keep telling her I have owned 8 or 9 trailers over the last 40 years
from pop-ups small scamp large 26 footer all served me well.

pop-up didn't like the canvas when it rained, scamp's bed was to small
and cost was to high even though I bought two new ones, some people are slow learners
big travel trailer was great once I arrived getting there was another story.
I now want a CT to carry my mobility scooter be able to stop at a rest stop and catch a nap, and not spend a lot of time with set up.
have all the nice things except a built in toilet and shower.
even I should be able to do what I want done to trailer.

Pete , no reason you can’t get/build/modify Exactly what you need eh ... ? For the purposes you describe , you could get a shorter trailer for less Drag and easier cleaning ... Scooter’s only so high , and napping , well that’s flat eh ... sounds easy when kept small and Light !!! 8)
