I built a small one 12 years ago. It was on a 99 Tacoma, had hinged windows and rotted early because I did not use any sort of wood preservative. Oh, I almost forgot; It was heavy too. It worked though, and kept us dry in bad weather. It was very tight quarters.

I've seen some other truck camper builds on some other forums, check out expedition portal
