How high is your Cargo?

So I am still working out floorplans in my head and trying to figure out which size cargo will do..I was originally dead set on a 6x12 vnose single axle, but now I think a 6x14 might fit the floorplan I am thinking about better..I was also dead set on a 6ft height but I dont want to regret down the road that I didnt get the extra 6 inches..I am only 5'9'' and my girlfriend is smaller so we dont technically need the extra 6 inches to stand, However, it would probably make the trailer feel less claustrophobic and would also help with shelves and storage space..My brother is also 6'2'' and if we go on a hunting or fishing trip together he would probably be more comfortable not slouching. I did discover this site while looking at teardrops, so small and easily towable was my first priority..Not sure if Im deviating too much from my original plans of small and simple..Im towing with a 2007 nissan xterra 4.0 mt rated to pull 5000 lbs..

I too am 5'9 and have a 6'6 6x10. I wouldn't want it any shorter in height.

Hey Digitek718 - I guess the other consideration I've heard on this site is taller trailers and wind risistance / miles per gallon. Don't know how you would go about figuring that out. As for me, my 6 X 12 CT has 6' 1" headroom (I'm 5' 10) and that works for me. Good luck!

I knew I would need to order my trailer a little taller if I wanted my golf cart to go in it so when I ordered my 7x16 I think it was only 160.00 more for the added height to have it 6inches or 12inches so I went for the foot extra and really glad I did.
I am 6 foot and when I am in a stock trailer my head is touching the ceiling.

It's better to get the taller for storage as you said.. to compromise now will just leave you wanting more later. I do not like having to redo things because I didn't do it the way I should have the first time, takes away from my fun time.

Mines 8', and it's like being in a house. Very nice. I can put storage at 6'6" and not hit my head on it. It is a sail though...

I went with the 6'6" to use a layout for bunks for the kids. Even the kids have plenty of room. Feels plenty spacious. That's the first thing that everyone comments on when entering the trailer.

With a cargo box on my tv I don't get that bad of gas mileage considering the height of the trailer.

I wonder if a measly 6'' would really have much effect at all in regards to wind resistance. This is the last thing holding me back before I place the order.

I have learned in the past that bigger is not always better. Sometimes it turns into more of a burden. But I also dont want to feel too cramped or limited in design ideas with something too small..javascript:emoticon(':thinking:')

One thought might be that probably more people have been sorry for going too small rather than to big. If your tow vehicle can handle it go bigger. The other idea that many have suggested here is lay out the two sizes someplace and see how "cramped" it would feel. Good luck with your decision.

Playing devil's advocate, let me ask how much time someone over 6 feet will be spending standing up inside the trailer? If you're looking at a 6x12, it isn't exactly like you will be playing tennis inside. Nothing inside should be more than three steps away, and the tall people will probably spend the bulk of their indoor time either sitting or laying down. The ceiling in my basement is 4 inches shorter than me, and the only time that it bothers me is when I have to walk the length of the basement with my head crouched down.

Personally, I'd still go for the extra height. By the time that you factor in ceiling and insulation, you may be down low enough where light fixtures and AC/ceiling vents start to get in the way even for someone under 6 feet tall.....

I am also 5'9" in height. The trailer I chose to order has an interior height of 72" (6'). Although that leaves only 3 inches clearance and a bit less after insulation etc, there is still enough headroom that I will not feel that ordering an 6" of height would be required. That said, the CT comes with 2 dome lights that I will replace with a slimmer design so that I will not have to worry about head clearance as much.

I plan to take my CT over some all weather forest service roads and with the CT already having a stock overall exterior height of 92" (8') I could also foresee some clearance issues at some remote and un-serviced campsites I regularly stay at if I had went with extra height on the CT.

Have you thought about a V-Nose in 6x12?

Referencing my Haulmark specs (other manufacturers have very similar specs) , the 6x12 V-Nose has an interior length of 13'3" with an overall trailer length of 16'.

A 6x14 single axle non V-Nose has an interior length of 14'5", however an overall trailer length of 18'. That to me, is a lot of trailer behind your particular SUV TV.

Between the 2 above trailer specs, there is only 14 inches difference in interior length, however you will need to decide if the extra 2 feet of overall trailer length of the 6x14 fits your needs.

are you going to use it only on short trips or are you going to tow all over the USA?
short trips don't worry about height get the extra 6, 6 1/2".
longer trips pulling a bigger front would mean gas mileage would suffer then again how much difference is the question.
I'm a short person and getting shorter as I get older a 6' height works for me
I want a V-nose 7X12X6 so I can run two beds/couches length ways and have space between them.

whether I get a 6x12 or 6x14 I will get the v nose..I like the looks over the flat front..I am also looking at Haulmark because they seem to be a good value..the 6x12 v front is 13'3'' interior length with an overall length of 16ft...the 6x14 is exactly 2ft more with an overall length of 18ft..I am thinking I might be better off going with the extra 6 inches so that I could do bunkbeds on e-track in the back..still not sure about the length although I think if I do bunkbeds It would work with the 6x12 also..
