General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Just finished my Shop reorganization project.

Postby len19070 » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:09 pm

For years under my work bench I had doors and shelves. Things would get put in them sometimes never to be seen again in the back corners of the abyss. And if you ever wanted to get anything out ya had to get down on your hands & Knees, empty the cabinet, either find what your looking for or not and then put everything back.

Before

Well for the last few weeks I've finally done something about it. Took off the doors and installed full extension Drawers under the bench for the entire 32'.

Tomorrows project, figure out what goes in what drawer!

Great reorganization, Len!! Speaking for myself, of course, I'm not getting any younger and I get tired of trying to find those little things hiding in the corners of the cabinets :( Drawers help so much with the organization.

Clearly with 32' of drawers, you will still have WAY too much stuff. OK.... I'll do you a favour and take it off your hands

RE: Swapping Cabinets for Drawers

Postby mezmo » Thu Oct 27, 2011 11:48 pm

Hi Len/len19070,

Great project there! I've come to the conclusion too, that under counter
cabinets are just inefficient. One or two may be necessary to have for odd
sized items, but the efficiency and ease of use that drawers provide is hard
to beat anytime.

'Looks like you have the hard part done now. Good luck sorting and
categorizing all the contents for the drawers. I'd suggest labeling the
drawers for their contents too. It'll save a lot of unnecessary drawer
opening.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Looking for a Kahlyufornia vacation?
Have I got a deal for you. Beautiful Bakersfield
awaits. We've finally dropped below eighty for our highs.
Drop on by, I've got all the tools you'll need and a gas Bar B Que!
Two blocks from the bike path, and the river that's been on all
summer this year. An hour from the mountains and
two hours from the ocean.

The final step.

Just painted the floor with an Asphalt Paint. Makes it a lot easier to sweep and it looks good too.

Len,

Nice job painting yourself into the corner

You would think that as we age that wouldn't happen as often, but I suspect half the fun is figuring out how to find the way out of what we work our way in to.

Looks great!!

I've been going out there every weekend I can and sorting through stuff. Gotta eliminate stuff. Gotta fit a Grasshopper in there!!

I'm SO jealous of your garage!!! Looks great!!!
