As I PM'ed you, I'm not up for the hassles like Gary's experience, so I haven't done the tag thing yet. I do have a "work around" that I've been using and will continue to use for awhile.

Hi Tom, as always I am supper impressed with the quality of your work. But I feel obligated to ask this question...you do realize that this thing you built is going to be outside, in the dust and rain, and not sitting in your living room don't you? Your camper is as "finished" as any piece of furniture I've seen and it seems a shame to let the elements get to. Maybe you can carry a big glass bubble around with you to protect it. I would cry once the first drop of pine pitch hit the roof...or the first pebble gets tossed up on the highway and dings your shinny aluminum.

Whatever, I hope you have many many years of enjoyment out of your camper, and it takes you places you only previously imagined.

I have to say that the 10-rule does apply to the SB. It has had several "experience" marks from sitting in the garage. Plus the actual tolerances are a little bigger than is shown by the (thankfully) small resolution photos.

The SB has been sitting outside on the driveway for about a week. I've had the electrical system hooked up testing it. It came through a rain and hailstorm unscathed a couple of days ago, and is now collecting large bird droppings from a neighbor's guinea fowl that likes to roost in the tree in our front yard.

We've been camping in it once without electrical and without cabinets. Our first big trip begins Thursday at the LCG outing in Louisianna. I wish that I had gotten it to this stage to try everything out with a local camp trip first, but it didn't happen.

Well, the little Silver Beatle had her first outing as a "complete" teardrop at LCG IV this past weekend.

Actually, it was her second trip. The first was in March at Beavers Bend, but there was no cabinetry installed or any electrical system.

I'd post a picture or two, but with the excitement of seeing old friends, meeting new friends, and seeing a lot of fine teardrops and tiny travel trailers, I forgot to take the camera out of the truck.

Other than a few bugaboos everything worked as intended and there were no leaks. The SB performed as hoped for. Linda and I really enjoyed our camping trip.

The SB looks so shinny and "new"...the only thing that would make the picture better is if the proud owners, you and Linda, were in the picture with the SB! Now see if you can get somebody to take your picture hauling it down the road.

Like I told Jim - low resolution pictures and selective photos have a way of covering over a lot of things. When you're camping, the teardrop blends in the background, and you just enjoy the nature and being with new friends.

Couple of questions:
It looks like your pillows are at the galley end, are you sleeping backwards?

We sleep in the "normal" position. What you see are the real pillows we use. They are tucked away under the overhead interior "footboard" cabinet. My wife brought along four other foo-foo pillows that are not seen in the picture that at the front of the teardrop.

As far as weight, I haven't had it weighed yet. One of my winter tasks is to get it licensed and registered. I shouldn't admit this in print, but I'm using the license plate off my utility trailer temporarily until I navigate the bureaucracy.
