EMT Tubing

Postby bushido41 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 8:22 am

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has ever used EMT pipe for the construction of their Teardrop wall structure. I know the wall of the pipe is thin, but I have seen people building all sorts of items , for example luggage racks, with this material. I was think of using 3/4 inch EMT to do some repairs to my trailer, due to a leak, the plywood used as wall support rotted out.

I wil appreciate any comments you might have.

EMT is fine for "body" if you have good structural design.... Friend once had a tear that the body appeared to be completely built with EMT and just had 1/8 ply for interior panels and thin sheet aluminum for exterior... Amazing how stiff whole construction was when it was all together...

Dale,

Thank you very much for the comments, and will ensure to post pictures if I decide to go that route.

Cheers,

i dont see why not, i have seen electricians built some pretty strong structures with emt.

the only thing is when you weld it be carefull of the nasty fumes that comes from the coating emt has.
