DO Stand Links

Thank you so much. My boss is going to be fabricating her own DOS as therapy ( she just lost her mom) and I was trying to explain the walker idea. She needs to take her mind off things and just create something.

Thanks again

Funny this should come up again. I just put one of the walker stands together today. Just need to build the shelf. Then I have two more dishes in the garage to work with.

Simple... make stand. Use oil catch pan, put in fire burn off the galvanized coating, use for dutch oven. These stands fold compact for transport.

A few photos from this past weekend. Thanksgiving dutch oven cooking get together. For your inspiration!

The walker stand is height adjustable to fit the short and the tall. The fact it disassembles without tools , folds flat for easy transport, and is light weight are all great features. I have all but retired my campchef D.O. table it always seemed a bit to short to me.

I like the walker idea

Postby mkitchen » Thu Nov 17, 2011 10:55 am

Are those TV dishes sitting on the walkers? And doesn't the heat from the coals get the edges of the dish hot enough to burn the handles on the walkers? A fellow could even put a metal plate on the lower cross members where the wooden shelf is and use that area to hold another DO. All in all, a very good idea.

No ! I have 40 some hours on mine and it look the same as the day it was built.

The 2011 shivaree was cold and I literally shoveled coals out of the campfire then tossed on 25+ bricketts on the lid and under the Dutch Oven. I really piled it on to get the homemade veggie soup piping hot. If anything was gonna melt, catchfire, or deform that would have been the day.

P.S. I have been banned from visiting the Riverside nursing home ( I think they are onto me)

I think my satelite dish stand will see a little use turkey day.

I am going to put a turkey breast in my 14" deep with a few veggies and fire it up. I will give it about 4 hours of attention with the heat low and slow. A little basting of peanut oil with a generious sprinkle of seasoned salt as I peak in on it now and then and it should be a small feast.

Makes me wish I was out camping and preparing a traditional thanksgiving dinner that would be a kodak moment

Had to laugh Sunday !

Opened my front door to the doorbell and found one of our camping buddies at my door. Seems camping boredom has already set in. Setting at home he decided to start a dutch oven stand project and a satelite dish was involved. I had a bunch of extras and was happy to donate one to the cause. I was made to understand he is going a somewhat different direction with his stand. I told him we all expect pictures of the project as it evolves.

DO

Postby Boanerges4 » Sat Nov 26, 2011 5:46 pm

Saw the D.O. post on Thursday PM while reading some old post, just wasting time. Read the post and decided I had to have one. I went to a 5k walk run this morning with my daughter, at a local festival called SWINE TIME. When it was over I checked out one of the booths and found a walker for the entire amount of 1.00. I asked the lady if she had any more and she told me she didnt have any more walkers but she had a handicap potty chair that had never been used. 4 bucks later Im the proud owner. Then I go by the hdwe store and pick up the rest of the essentials for the DO and Im off to the races. I get home, unload my truck and my wife shakes her head and calls me a true RN (Im sure that doesnt stand for registered nurse). 45 minutes later I have it together and Im a happy camper. A friend of mine gave me two Dish Nets one was a 1000 and the other a 500. I used the 1000 on top the 500 on bottom. It worked out great. Now all I need is my basket and some utensils. thanks to all for the post. Ill be glad when I can retire and sit around cat napping and dreaming up all these inventions. Thanks Dennis :applause:
