Seconded. It's 'wing piping' to a Brit, used on many older cars - my Morris Minor had some on the rear 'wings'. Didn't Bugs/Beetles use it as well? Might be an easier/cheaper source in the US such as this.

Mike I believe it is now official, you and Andrew and the ultralight are to blame for me not going camera shoppin.

No digital camera. 3 styles and a pratice build going.
I am going to practice on the DDOORS. Kids will have a good heavy playhouse.

We have 3 cardboard (to scale) models, and are leaning to something similar to the ultralight and curved weekender.
Gave up the notion of 10 feet and keeping the 5 high and wide. I hope.

Still looking at trailers. Some used and a friend of my Mike offered to weld if needed.

I got a throw away camera, took some pictures and tomorrow I will 1hour them, put them on the scanner and see if they load. How's that. Truth is I hate to shop and the thought of figuring out all the tech of the different camera's got an old SLR but flash is an unhappy camper.

We did cut some really big cardboard to see if we really needed 5x5x8 and we do. Or at least he does. I am short.

Just teasing yaull about the ultralight but I paid way too much time on the net and not enough on making sawdust.

I've been stuck in the planning stage since I found the April '53 issue of Popular Mechanics (the Wild Goose plan) while preparing for an estate sale. That was probly 2 years ago now. I'm 23 now, so at this rate, I'll probly finish building when I'm 45-50. I've probly come up with 10-15 different plans of what I'd like to build ranging from a generic Benroy to a small TD that had a pop-up top AND dual slideouts to make room to sleep in side-to-side and be able to stand up in. Needless to say, I tend to get a little ambitious in my plans.

I'm not sure if joining up here will spur me into getting started, or give me so many new ideas I never get out of the planning stage.

We can help... here's how it works... You have to take pictures of your build... lots of pictures... in fact take pictures every step of the way...

yea, yea... Madjack will say, "We luv da pics...." but that's not what you are looking for...

You need to start an album... check up there in the "Help with Photos"

Next start a thread... call it the MightyPan construction thread...

Finally, every day that you make some decent progress, add a photo to your thread...

Last, but not least... finish your daily posts with what you are going to do tomorrow...

Now if that doesn't do it, we are going to send every teardropper in WV to your place to take pictures, and tell you how you are taking too long...

Pan, Welcome to the asylum. If you don't believe Miike about pics and details, just look at my build thread. If I put in a screw, or sand a piece of wood, I take a picture and tell everyone about it. I'm just like a hen who lays an egg...I have to cackle about it for an hour afterward.

And, I'm a planner/designer too. I do more planning and designing than I do building. In my graphics program, the file of diagrams I am on now is "Squidget4D". That is the 4th file version, sub version D. My wife thinks I would rather plan and build than use it after I finish, and will just start planning, designing, and building something else. But, I only spent a little over 6 months in the plan/design stage before actually getting down to building my TTT. I DID make a lot of changes before settling down, and even while building, I keep making changes. Most people do I think.

So, get started or you'll just plan it to death!!!.

I 've got it !!! Instead of an old fashioned barn raising, we need to do some TEARDROP raising !!!! A new kind of gathering... get everybody to camp out at someone's place and get the job going....

You can buy at Office Depot or Wal-Mart, and I'm not kidding, a pocket digital camera for like 15 bucks.

It doesn't accept a memory card, so you connect the camera to your computer via USB cable and transfer the files that way. (The camera even COMES with a cable, which ALONE can sell for 10 bucks.)

The image size/resolution isn't the largest, but its fine for the web. Also, the amount of pictures the camera holds is limited, 20, maybe 30, but again--just fine for your purposes.

We could all meet in a field somewhere and have a general build-off. People with different skills could make the rounds. Kind of a round robin build. Camp out included. Need a big cast iron pot and some people to maintain it.
