boating and teardrop camping.

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

After drooling over this boat for 14 years, I've decided to buy the plans and manual for the 16.5.

Why 14 years? Mostly storage space after construction. Plus, the kids are old enough now to enjoy being on the water.

Holy cow, Rose is a teenager now! Done? Surely you jest. A teardrop is never "done".

This is what would work for me. I would add a electric trolling moter.

How about instead of adding a boat to a teardrop or making a tear drop be a boat, how about instead making a boat that is the trailer also? How about a shanty boat that when on the trailer to haul it is also a wheeled trailer? How about a flip up over hang and a flip up bow and transom to make the boat more highway friendly?

I think I got a good deal. Just have to make a canoe motor mount to hold my old trolling motor to cut down on my paddling and off I go.

I used a couple of 1"x6" boards with short straps to hold the motor to the hull. Worked just fine! ;)

www.makeacanoe.com

is yet another site to check out, I am looking hard at the 12'9" Waterboy..

Knothead builder; wood camper, wood bow, wood arrows, wood canoe...
seems like a matched set; to me...

slowcowboy wrote:stand up guy. what thickness of marine plywood would you buy to make a pram from?

my lumber store thought they could get 3/4 and i am saying that would make the boat weigh more than the titanic!!!!!!!!!

slow
1/4" all around. Some put 3/8" on the bottom. If you glass the bottom the 1/4" is more than fine.

People have made these from luan and glassed it in and out.

:dancing: :designing: Now if we could just get a way to clamp one of these to the deck of a trailer, not boat trailer, and un-clamp it.....Would be perfect unless the wind gets too high!

Ummm just looking and it looks like this might be a bit of a problem with a motor. Might use a reversed electrical but if the cabin is up front a motor would be easier..
