WOOHOOO welcome to the club! Do you know if it's an early one with the air bleed? As you know they are a pain to restore, but wel worth it! The only thing I'm missing is the baking rack.

sorry Lee.....and Robert...yes it has the air bleed...tank has some dents in it, missing the baking rack as well. I've cooked up an idea to duplicate one however. I've got one that will fit in my 2E so should be able to make a re-pop. Doug

Thanks guys! it does look cool all set up. Doug I have whats left of my tank stencil with the "patents pending" on it, I could make a copy of it or maybe I can still find the guy that made them he's some where in Oregon.

Thanks for that Bob...if yours is still usable, I can make it work, was it cut in a "stencil" material? I have gotten them cut in that material, and pulled it and stuck it back down on the release material and was able to re-use them up to 3 times. I was thinking that I need to come up with the stencil.

I got a note from the seller. He asked that if I were to restore it, he'd like some pics of it, so at least he's interested in it's restoration. Maybe he went out of his way to pack it. He did refund some of the shipping costs on it...kinda unheard of on E-bay.

It's on it's way to me now....I just gotta get some of the others that are on the "ready to be restored" line out of the way. Well, actually, just the one that is torn apart and in primer now....the rest can wait.... I gotta have a stockpile of winter projects...or I'll go crazy.

Bob...what did you spray that with...high temp engine enamel so it can handle 500F on the oven, or a regular paint? Is the oven a user? I want to make mine so that I can bake with it. Used the engine enamel on the oven portion on my 2E...handles the temps fine, but not as good of a gloss as yours. Doug

Cool, I have my 242 burning right now at my feet. I have warm toes tonight.

What do you use to strip the paint off with? I am going to make a special lantern ( not the 242, don't worry ).

Stripping paint on a fount for a lantern....Jasco...on a stove/and stove tank, Jasco and a pressure washer....then hit the really bad spots with the bead blaster....cast iron grates...bead blaster. Whatever works for you is the best thing...as long as it doesn't tear up the material, or any stamped copy...sand in a blaster is right out! Doug

The model 1 showed up today. It's got plenty of rust on it, on the inside of the box and some fair pitting on the exterior. Pumped up and held pressure, something funky with the gennie and it's not wanting to run very freely. I was going to build a fire in it, but think I'll wait till I take that apart and see what's going on.

Someone decided at some point that it needed to be green. Well, they did a rattle can job on it, however, when the fuel tank is folded into the box, the paint blew through the vents on the bottom and gave the tank a couple of dots. You have to swing the manifold into the burn position after it's been pre-heated thorough the use of a lever. That's going to be a tough thing to do without marking up all the paint once it's done.

At any rate...at least I've got one now. I'll have some time to collect info on it before I really tear into it. Not shown are the other 2 panels for the oven. On this stove, the oven wasn't all hinged together. Just 3 sides, the front and top slid into the back of the lid and had to be pulled out and assembled. Doug
