My wife wiped the wood with a wet cloth and it looked fine, could dnot really see where I sanded unevenly. She thought that was an indicator of how it would look when recoated with spar coats, and that it would be ok to add more coats now. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Guess I could just test and area, let it dry, and see....

 If you are not a professional wood finisher you are not likely to get a perfect stain nor a perfect finish. And if anyone ever mentions it just tell them only God is perfect...MO

I live in Joplin MO and really struggled to get a day with less than 50% humidity...I just waited but you can get a dehumidifier and should get a dryer finish. As for dust :? You can always vacuum walls......NOT---Trick is to do your best and enjoy the process... ;)

ok, took some advice from everyone and strained the spar thru cheesecloth, replaced the brush, and applied new coat in more dust-free environ and worked much better! One more coat and I will call it a day. Not perfect, but acceptable for sure. Thanks for the input!

Your tables look very nice.
They're sure to get a lot of use, and plenty of nice comments too.

Good job!
