If you camp enough...you'll figure out how to put things in the galley so that they don't "jump" all over the place when traveling. One thing I always do...I have a patch of painters tape that I use on top of the salt and pepper shakers so if they tip over, it's not all over the place. I"ve never had an upper door pop open while traveling, I use the roller type catches on them.

Rubber "airliner" mat works great, and I just put things in so they are working against each other. I lay the bath towel over the counter edge to keep the slide outs from banging against the hatch just in case as only the cooler has a latch on it. Doug

I think it all depends on the road!

This is one of the better off pavement roads that I took on my vacation in October. I expected some things to be out of place, and they usually were, the lantern was also kept in the galley, and the globe or mantels never needed replacing.

I lined all our shelves with the non slip shelf liner. It does a pretty good job of keeping small things from moving around. The big things all get tied down.

You can go to any RV or truck stop and get tie down straps or make your own. I used a bungie cord for the coffee pot. Everything else was put in bins or laid on the bed..

We have bins in the cupboards that keep things from going crazy. The microwave is strapped to the counter so it doesn't go anywhere.

We installed the microwave to make the trailer easier to sell--not thinking that we would actually use it. Surprise! We do!

Putting things in bins, tying stuff down, no-skid liners, stuff like that is good after the fact of design and building. Most of the trailers are built on a "trailer suspension". For the most part ride quality is not as good as in vehicles meant to transport people. I used the rear axle and springs from a VW Rabbit pickup. The longs springs did present some challenges but the tear sure does ride sweet. Would be a whole lot better if I would put shocks on the wee beastie. I have hit some mighty good holes in the highway and gone on some real back desert/forest roads. And a few no road places. I haven't had any real problems. Last summer I once neglected to check my hatch latches and I drove about 60-70 miles including some rough pavement where the hatch popped up a few inches to rest on the latch parts so it was open. Didn't loose a thing.

That said, I've arrived in camp a couple of times with everything in the galley all ahoo, but I try to avoid it.

The only time I've ever read the term 'all ahoo' is in Patrick O'Brian's 'Master and Commander' series.

Where did you pick that up? If it was from POB, 'A glass of wine with you, Sir!'
