My first camping trip was when my folks took my sis and I to Niagra Falls when I was 18 months! The 8x8 canvas tent worked until i was about 7 I think. Then my folks bought an Apache popup with addaroom. That served the family, with the addition of my bro for many years.
My preference for car camping/road trips has always been a van. When I had the need for a full size I had them rigged for work and play. Now, my needs are met with a GMC Safari. Fine for me when I can deal with cramped quarters but I wanted to have something bigger.
One morning I opened Craigslist and found a Kamparoo in LaGrange. I bolted there and drove it home! A fine unit but I need more space for gear. Hauling along two kayaks and gear along with two people's kit lead me to dropping the 'roo onto my flatbed trailer. This works fine...but...I would like something a bit more stealth!
I sure hope that my stealth idea doesn't brand me as a heretic here at TTTT

The idea that I have is to buy a half ton or smaller pickup, pull off the box, the build up a flatbed deck. On top of that I'd build a camper box using the same design principles of TT. There are some nice designs with lift up/clamshell backs.

I want to be able to stand up, I'm 6'2", but still have a low pro unit.
If this is heretical...ooops...I'll drop down into stealth mode...but I have a feeling after looking at a number of build threads that this community is like many other online communities...open to the fringe element too!
Now...wondering if it would be a foamie or foam/ply laminate or frame and skin...
When I learn how to attach an image I'll load up my Kamparoo on the trailer pics[/img]
