Looking at getting my frame welded up now what about ground to frame height whats the lowest I could go to be safe and functional

My "drop floor standy build has a clearance of 8" from frame to the ground, at the drop floor.
The floor is dropped 6" from the bottom of the non-dropped floor portion of the frame.
Therefore, the rest of the frame has a maximum clearance of 14".
Shown below is a photo showing the drop floor.

I agree with Slow, if you plan on takeing the trailer off roading you dont want to lower the frame much or you could bottom out. And it doesnt have to be out in the boonies either... 1 event I went to I had to drive over a big grassy area filled with rocks and low spots...Im thinkin bigger tires to make it easier.

I was thinking about using air bags to make it ride height adjustable, but wasn't sure what type of clearance was best

I made mine to go on rough and no roads.


Those are 13 inch VW wheels. Not the best for roughing it but so far is ok. I have yet to touch the frame/body to rocks or ground. ( not counting brush and trees ) I have had it in a few places where it was a rough and slow going in 4WD Low Range. But it does stick up in the airstream where it spends most of its time. Air suspension would be nice.
