Got the bug!

Postby jgrimmy » Sun Dec 04, 2011 4:56 pm

Hi all!
My name is John, I accidentally caught an episode of Pawn Queens a couple weeks ago in which they purchased a teardrop trailer. It peaked my interest and I began doing some research on them. I had never had any interest in them before. Now I find myself thinking, planning and making room for a build!

I have an automotive background and am in the midst of a restoration of a 57 2 door Bel Air hardtop (for those of you that are bored here’s a link to the work I've done so far on it http://57rustbucket.com/).

I'm thinking of a "bullet nose", if that’s the correct term, trailer, 5X10, homemade frame, aluminum clad.

Any direction to any threads on a build or info on this type of Teardrop would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all the info, help and comradery I can tell I will find here.

Welcome John, you have come to the right place. The guy who was on that Pawn Queen episode is a member here.
Spend some time and look around on the site. See what catches your interest and then start asking for help. There is NOTHING that can't be answered by the people on this board. Good luck with your restoration. That will make a great Tow vehicle.
When you start making sawdust, take some pictures. There is a spot for build journals. We love to follow along.

Hi John,
Welcome to the forum!
I spied a North Dakota plate on your 57rustbucket page (Wow!! What a project! You're very brave to take on all that work!). Are you located there? There are a few teardrop owners (I myself am a partial teardrop owner...mine has yet to be finished ;) ) near the western edge of Minnesota. There's also a Tearjerkers chapter for MN and WI. I keep encouraging the members to head over to our area. Be sure to visit the St. Croix chapter of Tearjerkers to find upcoming gatherings and get-togethers. Some of us are daring each other to have a winter meet-up. You might be able to see a few trailers in "person" that way. There's also dakotamouse near Bismarck.
Good luck with your planning and build. Be sure to post pics, and share your ideas and questions.
Take care,
Lil M.

Thanks Lil, I am located in Fargo ND. About as far east as you can get in ND. I'd love to get to one of these get togethers see some of these trailers in person and meet ya all!
