I recently put my teardrop up for sale here and basically the only replies I got were from people who were questioning whether or not I was being honest. There was a comment as to whether or not it was even made by the person/company that I said it was. I don't know if these individuals were trying to sell their own trailers and didn't want the competition or what their problem was. I always got the impression that people on this website and teardroppers in general were good people, but after this experience, I'm not so sure. So, bottom line...if you have a question about a sale, and the person with the ad says if you have questions to contact them, maybe you should do that instead of posting negative comments on this site. Just a thought...

Since you joined only for the sale of your trailer and a few people did some research and reposted qoutes or asked questions. Have some patience and understanding. No one wants to hurt your feelings. But they have friends on here and are looking out for them also. You did not even introduce yourself as asked too. True, not everyone does, but please talk it with a grain of salt.

I reread your thread , people were asking honest Questions . nobody was calling you a liar. we have just seen a lot of teardrops for sale and we know to ask questions about them nothing more.

Since you joined only for the sale of your trailer and a few people did some research and reposted qoutes or asked questions. Have some patience and understanding. No one wants to hurt your feelings. But they have friends on here and are looking out for them also. You did not even introduce yourself as asked too. True, not everyone does, but please talk it with a grain of salt.

Actually, I joined back in 2005 when I bought my teardrop and only recently changed emails and was not able to update my profile so I just re-joined. Understand what you're saying but I still think things could have been handled a little better.

I am on another forum, the JalopyJournal.com which has an interesting rule regarding classified ads. They have four classified sections ie. cars, parts for cars, miscellaneous for sale, and wanted. If you have a comment or question you MUST pm the advertiser. No comments are allowed to be posted. You may think the price is crazy, or it is junk, or a great deal, great color, ugly, common, rare or whatever but no comments are allowed. They think the buyer can check for themselves, ask someone else in a pm, ask the seller questions or in other ways fend for themselves. I really like the concept of allowing us to make deals without unwanted comments from others on the forum who are in no way involved in the transaction. I don't think we need the "classified police" assuming that they are protecting us.

Just my opinion.

I agree! However when there are problems it is nice if someone lets an Admin. know. We can check out most of them and are willing to delete... Just hit the email button or PM....

I'm on a scooter forum that has the same rule. No comments can even be posted. It is nice not to wade through the BS.

Sorry you had the negative experience selling, Pete. I just think that it was a big misunderstanding, partially due your join date (even though you were previously a member).

In my opinion though, I believe that people should be allowed to continue to comment and ask questions publicly. This format can deter potential trolls from joining this site with intentions of scamming someone who may not necessarily be internet savvy, or may not know what questions should be asked prior to a sale. It can also help educate others who may not even be interested in purchasing the item for sale. If someone posts something for sale and isnt prepared to answer questions publicly, then it usually means that they have something to hide.

*Emphasis is on USUALLY, because I do not direct this post towards the original poster. This is JUST my opinion from years of posting not only in this forum, but many other automotive forums as well.

Just so ya know - could have just PM'd or emailed an admin and got that email address changed on your old login.
