Pillage at the Bootfair.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Pillage at the Bootfair.

Postby campmaster-k » Sun Dec 04, 2011 5:54 pm

Now since I am an official T&TTT Colman Keeper things are a little different. At the bootfair vendors were throwing Coleman at me. I was dragging the CRV and it was awesome. Coleman Recovery has never been better. I went into the wild and I was not fearful.

I scored a big hat in a cool metal case. Have not checked the year yet. $15.00

Image

I scored this 220J in its original box. The box is not that great but the lantern is sweet. $12.00

Image

Then I found this old 425. It was in its box. Again the box wasnt that great but the stove is excellent.

Image

Image

Then I got this 425 f I think. It spoke to me so I bought it. $12.00. It came with a funnel and a pump rebuild pump kit.

Image

All totaled I scored four lanterns a cool case and two real nice stoves.

Nice finds Kirk! That 228 metal case is especially nice, those are very hard to find. Real collectors stuff in that and that early 425. Well done! :applause:

Take care of that globe on the 5114 propane job too, that's another hard to find piece. Originally came on the big hat Sears CF lanterns in the early 70s.

I think next time you come down here you need some of us to help you decide what you REALLY need

Actually I'm happy for you. I know how it feels when you look really hard for collectables and they are all junk or you don't see anything. I'm in the "I don't see anything" stage right now and getting a bit depressed. I might just start gathering my took kit for the tear instead.

I'm glad you got a really good Coleman fix today...I know you will be a true 'Keeper of the Coleman flame" and clean them up....and we'll be looking at burn pictures very soon!!

My brother who is the stove guy in our family was a couple of hours behind me a the flea. He got 3, three! of those old 425s at the same market, AFTER I was there????? I must be slipping. Oh well its family right?

I talked with him on the phone he paid $6, $7, and $10 respectively.

It must have been vendors who came later. I would not have missed those stoves. I always go early.

I burned that 425 moments after I got it home. It was full of fuel. I pumped it about 5 times and hiss/spit and flames. Unbelievable. :applause:

I have been looking hard for a waffle dog iron. Nothing. I am not going to pay big bucks ( ebay ). I will be triumphant.

PS I might pay big bucks If I dont get one before the spring camping season!

I want to be in the Waffle Dog club too!!!!

kirk: if we have a NorCal Coleman Keepers event, as discussed while you were getting your beauty sleep for the bootfair (see the "colors" thread) I think you should have first pick for the waffle dog.

Doug, Lee, and I were kicking around a group trip to Denios as a group..but we need to get some things straight so it isn't a disaster. I called the things I want: single burner stove, 500 and/or 502 with cooking accessories. I forgot about the possibility of waffle dog irons. I thought about it all day: Doug and Lee have them. If we are Coleman Keepers we need to watch out for each other. You joined the forum before me. So if we find one, I think it should be yours. Next one is mine. I want one, I want one almost bad enough to pay $60 plus for it. But I kinda like the thrill of the hunt, and will wait. Even though I just bought some Jimmy Dean Sage Sausage (and a maple one!) just to use in a waffle dog. That's why God invented freezers. Or something like that.

I was thinking of starting a post for a NorCal event so we could nail down a date and get our dibs in. Also figure out what else we might want to do in town (Lee comes from Willits..it needs to be worth his trip somehow!)

Yeah, I want a waffle dog iron. But if we are out in a group, it's only right that I let you get one first. Karma, you know.

Man a live. Must be nice to live close to a real flea market. The ones I have seen here is just pathetic. So I have to make do by going to estate sales.

Very nice haul! I like the 228 and box a lot!

Barbara: I don't think the dibbs thing is going to work. I'm still looking for a waffle dog maker but am tight for ebay too.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.
