1962 Price is Right Trailer

Postby TheresaD » Mon Dec 05, 2011 12:34 am

A friend posted this earlier on Facebook. I don't think I've seen this one on the forum yet. Check out the trailer that's the second item up for bid (at about 8:43 into the clip). I thought some of you might get a kick out of it.

According to an 'inflation' website:

$2,540.00 in 1962 had the same buying power as $18,557.16 in 2011.

Annual inflation over this period was 4.14%.

There are pictures of one of those sitting in the weeds somewhere on this website. I would have no clue how to search for it though.

I think I will start smoking.

I grew up thirty miles from where that was made. Went to college in 69 in the same town. Never heard of that company. Sure wish I had.
I am going to ask their chamber if they know if any of those trailers still exist.

In 1971 my weekly grocery budget for myself, husband and 1 baby was $15. That wouldn't get us through a day now.

In 1962 a loaf of bread cost me a quarter. A coke was a dime in a glass bottle.

I remember nickel hershey bars.

Hi TheresaD,

Thanks for posting that. The Odyssey [sp?] foldup trailer was a topic
of curiosity as all we'd seen were a couple of grainy photos of it folded
down in a storage lot. This gave a good glimpse of more of it.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Glad to help Norm! Who knew the Odyssey was the Loch Ness Trailer??
I can't take credit for finding the video clip though. A friend found it and posted it in a vintage camping group on facebook.

RE: Odyssey Inspired Build From Norway

Postby mezmo » Tue Dec 06, 2011 12:51 am

Hi Again Theresa,

FYI:

There's a forum member from Norway, Leaded, who is building a version
of the Odyssey - or one along the same lines - to go along with the car he
built [very neat!] It'll be great to see his results once he finishes.

Check it out here:
