Pillage at the Bootfair.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Doug, Lee, and I were kicking around a group trip to Denios as a group..but we need to get some things straight so it isn't a disaster. I called the things I want: single burner stove, 500 and/or 502 with cooking accessories. I forgot about the possibility of waffle dog irons. I thought about it all day: Doug and Lee have them. If we are Coleman Keepers we need to watch out for each other. You joined the forum before me. So if we find one, I think it should be yours. Next one is mine. I want one, I want one almost bad enough to pay $60 plus for it. But I kinda like the thrill of the hunt, and will wait. Even though I just bought some Jimmy Dean Sage Sausage (and a maple one!) just to use in a waffle dog. That's why God invented freezers. Or something like that.

I was thinking of starting a post for a NorCal event so we could nail down a date and get our dibs in. Also figure out what else we might want to do in town (Lee comes from Willits..it needs to be worth his trip somehow!)

Yeah, I want a waffle dog iron. But if we are out in a group, it's only right that I let you get one first. Karma, you know.

I would like to go with you folks. Just let me know when. I am available most Sundays. When I go to Denios I take loads of stuff for cheap. I dont care who gets what. It would be fun just to watch you all going nuts at the worlds best Coleman smorgie.

Hey Kirk, I guess you have not heard. Those round tank 425's are a time bomb waiting to go off like that bomb in Germany. You better send it to me for proper disposal.

Its all packed up in foam and stuff. But I took it to the Sheriff dept to make sure it was safe and they stopped me and questioned me for several hours about why I wanted to send a "bomb" to Idaho. As the song says "Bring Lawyers Guns and Money the sh** has hit the fan." Awaiting your help in cell 13.

Must be the first bomb sent to Idaho.

Did I ever tell you the story about how I had a meeting with a member of the FBI Bomb investigation team. Three days before they arrested the Uni Bomber?

True story

Well, while the facts are correct, the whole story is not that exciting. The real story is that my step sister had married this guy who was an FBI agent that was a bomb investigator. And I just happened to first meet him 3 days before the Uni Bomber was arrested. He had been on at least two other well known cases. The first Twin Towers bombing and the Atlanta Olympics bombing. Those are the ones I know of.

Just sounds a whole lot more fun if I leave out some details and let the imagination run wild.

:D

One really strange thing that happened was a sister of mine was visiting a city that he did not live in. And happened to run into him some place and before ( luckly ) she could wave hello or something he gave her a look that said ( DON'T DO ANYTHING THAT SHOWS YOU KNOW ME ) Almost blew his cover.

Sometimes the world is a lot smaller than we think.

RE: the bootfair outing: I cannot go this weekend. I'm headed to Carmel to buy a huge lot of vintage Coleman stuff.....

No, I am going to Carmel for our holiday party. I should be bringing back a new Coleman LED battery lantern. It's what I put down for what I wanted from my "Secret Santa" to get me!!

Do you want to schedule it for Dec. 18? Unless we get a negative weather report? That is a Sunday. Is that good for everyone semi local (Lee??) and local (Doug??)

I don't even know where this place is. LOL I'm not sure. I may be able to make it. The holidays are a hard time for me to get out and do things. Lets see what Doug has to say.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

It's in Roseville. There is also the Folsom Flea...Doug: do you think that one is worth it?

We can always put it off until January. Kirk and Doug would know best if this close to Christmas is a good time. I don't know how many people will be busy with holiday stuff...or if the guys will be selling while the gals shop at the mall? It seems like you get more people selling when there is nothing going on..no holiday, no Super Bowl, etc. But my experience comes from antique flea markets. There are certain times when it's dead: few vendors and few buyers. Don't know if it's the same with fleas.

We won't leave you out of the loop...and we'll tell you how to get to Denios. It's like the San Jose flea market..or the one on McDowell and 40th st(?) in PHX: food, produce, meat. yard sales, professional vendors. Antiques, junk, made in China stuff. Something for everyone.

Too tough for me right now before Christmas....I got parts coming for the kitchen stove that's dead and needs to be fixed...install the garage door opener that cooked, do all the yard winterizing work, clean the garage and the re-grand opening of the store...Doug

you'll be surprised how much the price declines at flea markets when January hits - also all the old hunting gear is put up for sale at that time of the year. An added Plus= the crowds are less dense in January than December deal lookers! ;)

Denios will always be there. If we arnt going before xmas then lets do it after new years.

As for the vendors, it is my experience that it is well attended any sunday that the weather is good. Saturdays are a bust. All the yardsale stuff is on Sunday. If you wanted a comparison with San Jose I think that Denios has much more yard sale stuff and less Chinese plastic light sabers.

The Marysville flea can also be fertile.
