DARN! I just spent money on an iphone when I could have bought one of those. But I bet they won't sell them without guns and rockets, and what's the use of a good, fast jet if you don't have guns and rockets?!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

If you look close, the T-38 has a drag chute. He has the only T-38 with a drag chute because it's an F-5 tail section. The wing tip tanks are an extra, that's a plus. Normally Side Winder missiles are attached to the wing tips. If anyone wants me to go down and check them out for you, just let me know and I'll go down and save you the drive. ;)

None of the above. I gave Northrop 30 years of my working life. That T-38 was the first for Thornton and it consist of parts and pieces from several planes that he got from the Air Force and Northrop (aka: Northrop Grumman). And yes before the YF17 and the F18 I worked on the T38 and F5. I was a Mfg. Engr. in liaison (trouble shooter). ;)

A little trivia: The Air Force never had any F5's, only T38's and it was The Navy's Top Gun orig. that had T38's painted like Migs.

Yeah, that's right. We only had the F4 "pigs" and T38's. I worked on both when I was in the Air Force.

Great eye Gage. I was going to ask the same question about serving I the USAF. However working with Northrop explains it.
Like Gage said, the USAF never really used the F-5 as a front line fighter, but they did fly it in training (allied nations) and evaluation roles. I never saw a USAF F-5 during my time in (82 - 02), only the T-38. Even the Thunderbirds used the T-38 instead of a fighter aircraft.

Gage...I figured you had some first hand knowledge! My dad also worked for Grumman and then Northrup Grumman for 35 years! He was in charge of Grumman's Ag-Cat project for 30 years.

Looks fun but I'd rather have a tank. No fancy pilots license and I can still haul the teardrop with it

Don't forget to buy the airstart cart as they cant self start without a huffer cart. Just last month I got a call from the DOD asking if I had one for T-38's. This after having a NASA T-38 come through Scottsdale, AZ. Makes me wonder if the T-38 is being put back in service.

if you do get one of these give me a call to maintain it (20 years aircraft mechanic) the F-5 is the jet I would own if I had the dough, just looks like it is screaming along sitting still. Too bad the F-20 didn't make it, it was so cool looking.
