I went out and got myself a cast iron burner, hey Coleman doesnt have a monopoly on cast iron. :o

I replaced the pump gasket and painted the wind wings, burner and grate, flushed the tank and lit it on fire!

This stove roars like a jet engine. Its puts out massive heat. And just look at the tank, its must hold close to half a gallon. I also have the three burner version but have no tank for it.

Thanks Keith - This one was easy, I got it on ebay. I bought it thinking the tank would also fit the three burner. It does not. But it turned out to be a really cool stove. 8)

Nice looking stove. Looks like about the same color that they used for the Western Auto Revelation stoves and lanterns. I have one Revelation stove, works pretty good. And a AGM KampKook stove. A few weeks ago I picked up another AGM. At first glance I thought it was one of the early 425. Has the same type of folding wire legs. I haven't gotten that one fired up yet. It doesn't have the pump and I haven't pulled my AGM out to see it that one will fit.

Speaking of Revelation equipment. I am now looking for a Western Auto Lantern. The were made by Thermos.

Here's the "official" word from AGM KampKook....right off the plate on my 57

"Open the black valve, hold lighted match to burner and open red valve slowly. After one minute, close black valve slowly. Black valve supplies air only for starting and must be closed when generator is thoroughly hot. If flame is too low, pump in more air." So it's kinda like the lever flip up thing on the Colemans, but it's a knob...

That's a nice stove Kirk...ya know...there is a great hammered paint that will closely match that color. I did it on my '39 Pre-Way, see below. And so your collection grows......Doug

Yeah, like that but I believe Western Field is a Monky Wards. Western Auto was another hardware chain. Their camping stuff was ( at least what I am looking for ) called Revelation.

I have seen on Ebay one lantern that looked like that one but in the Western Auto Revelation get up. I some how talked my self out of bidding on that one.

Revelation water jug

Now don't you snipers go after that one.

All's fair on internet and Ebay

I will try to get some pics of my Revelation and other AGM stuff tomorrow. And those lighting instructions, take them with a grain of salt. Sometimes it seems that turning either knob seems to do the same thing. But eventualy you figure it out. But keep the instructions handy if you don't use it often.

I have used my 2 working AGM stoves a bunch and they work as good as a Coleman, just something different.

Randy's right....I"ve got a number of stoves with the black nob on the side...and honestly...I can make them fire up fine without doing the official instructions....Doug

I dug my 3 AGM stoves out today.

Image

There is my AGM KampKook and the Western Auto Revelation

Image

Here is the working bits of the Revelation. pic of the lighting instructions is in my album.

Image

Working bits of the KampKook

Image

I forgot the KampKook was a cast iron.

Image

Now if you saw that top stove setting alone with some other stuff kind of covering it what would you think it is?

Image

It sure is not your father's Coleman 425C

Image

Missing fuel pump. And if you have a generator like that in your back pocket, then you have problems.

Image

First fire. Used the pump from the KampKook. Works perfectly. After it warmed up a few more minutes the yellow went away. But the valve to the right burner is opened a tiny bit and I can't move the control. Not to bad though.

Going to fix supper on it when I get this posted.

I do not know what model it is. Nothing really like it on Terry Marsh's site and no stickers on it. I will venture to guess from the 1950s

Awesome pics thanks Randy, I did think it was a 425 and then I saw the tell tale drop shaped hole for the generator. Very nice stoves I like the weird stuff.
