What do you want for Christmas

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I want a "lifetime supply" of opiate and benzodiazepine like drugs with no tolerance/dependence/addiction/withdrawal side effects.

Cheers,

Gus

With the painful health problems that you have had in your life, I can understand that, Gus. I can only hope that something is finally helping you and allowing you to have a better life.

Thanks for the "positive waves". I have an appt with a "specialist" to see if we can find some meds to keep me on a "more even keel". I am close to "biting the bullet" and accepting that I need to use more pain killers. I think I can double my current dose and still remain under the tolerance/dependence/addiction/withdrawal threshold. I currently cut the smallest pill (dose) offered into quarters and limit myself to about half a pill per day. Way less than the 27 methadone pills/day I was taking years ago (I was "ignorant" of the hazards and am not gonna make the same mistake twice, ha). The doctors are continuing to learn about this "disease" and some of the things I told them, years ago, that I experience (ie no pain while asleep and first thing upon awakening) are now recognized as "par for the course" with this condition. NOW THEY LISTEN!!!! Took nearly 20 years, ha.

Cheers,

Gus

I go through the same thing every Christmas. Susan & I get pretty much anything we want or think we need all year long. I would just enjoy the company of my family, a few minutes that I can use for anything I want without having to rush to the finish, sleep a little later or take a nap without any guilt of wasting time, or just savoring a sunrise or sunset (without mosquitoes) with my bride at my side.

Merry Christmas y'all!
If I knew retirement would be this much fun, I would have done it right out of high school.

Perhaps learning a little bit about the history of the X in Xmas (starting as early as 1755) would be useful:

"Xmas" is a common abbreviation of the word "Christmas". It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksmÉ™s/, but it, and variants such as "Xtemass", originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsmÉ™s/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for "Mass",[1] while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word ΧÏ

Lucky You, Karen!!

My daughter and grandkids live in California, and this will be the first time since they were born that we haven't been with the kids for Christmas (they're 12 and 14). That would be the best gift I could ever get, to answer the door on Christmas morning and see them all standing there.

And you spell Christmas 'X-mas'?

Just pulling your chain. ;)

:) Gage, I will never use that term to descibe what the season is truly about, just the version that most folks celebrate now. :(
