I have a 512 also. Not nearly as good as yours.
Before you fire it up I would fill the font and let it set for a few hours to let the internal wick soak up good. Then try it. Be sure you have plenty of space about the heater before you light it up. Flames seem to shoot up about 3-4 feet. After it is going they do not get up to a very high temp. I have put wood shavings on mine to see what would happen. They eventually start to char. The instructions say that one way to shut them down is to pour the fuel back into the container. So to test it I poured some CF directly on the top. It just evaporated, ( really quick ) I imagine if there was a flame around it would have been more interesting.
