Newbie to Teardrop Scene

Postby mtrmth » Sat Dec 17, 2011 11:43 pm

Hey All,

Mark Here...Sister got a teardrop recently (Benroy Style I believe) and paid for someone to build it. I Think I can do a Job as good or better for a WHOLE lot less than her's cost.

I'm sort of a Jack of All Trades, Master of a Couple. I'm a IT/Installer by Trade but Love Harley's and other Motorcycles, Old Cars and anything that can be Built, Modified or Tinkered with. I always have a few Projects going on and just think I need another one. Ha Ha Ha (Wife says I need another project like I need a new hole in my head)

I've been lurking about 2-3 months and only signed up recently. Saw Tom's build out of Ft. Worth, Just up the road, and fell in love with his style. Awesome Work Tom.

Think others here have some awesome work as well. I'm still in the planning stages and have a lot more reading/research to do before I start. I'll probably try to start sometime this year on an actual build but it will have to be after Sturgis in August. (it's my first time and all)

Well... Hope everyone well and hope to meet some of you around eventually.

Welcome. The more you read the more the bug will get a hold on you and the more anxious you will be to get started.

Are you looking at a Benroy also?

Welcome Mark
I have just joined the T&TT in the past couple of months also.
You sound like you like the camping scene but are into something different??
You should check out my current project....under "Vedette Trailer".
I am well underway and am very excited about the build, even if it is a little outside of the box for most here on the Forum.
What will you be towing your TD unit with?
That, I think is what separates the "regular campers" from the ones that want to be part of a movement???

Bugs

Postby mtrmth » Sun Dec 25, 2011 4:40 pm

Yep I guess I've been bit by the bug as I'm always reading the forums for info and knowledge.
As for Tow Vehicle I have an 07 Toyota Tacoma 4Dr with towing package that I'll use. Would love to tow something behind my 07 FXST, but most stuff is either too big or heavy for my comfort. Soooo, I'm still engineering it in my head until I have it worked out for the strongest, lightest and smallest pulling package using easy to get components that I can fold out for a large size tent/camper. One I get it there I'll put it on paper and fab it out of heavy cardboard before I build it. I saw a plan, I think here, of a trailer but didn't care for the size/design as much.

Thanks for all the encouragement and welcome's and hopefully sometime next year or in 2013 I'll have one on the road and meet some of you fellow TDer's.
