Moving Dilema

Postby StandUpGuy » Sun Dec 18, 2011 12:07 pm

I may be presented with a major change of life in the form of a new job in a new state. I am not in anyway prepared for such a change. I own a house and am not sure yet about the ease of selling it in this economy. But that is not the issue I raise here for me. one of my many other concerns is the ongoing trailer build I have. I have still a lot to do on it and if I am to move I will be plenty busy with all of the other things involved in the move and new job. I would also be in some sort of long term temporary situation as far as habitat. I am quite sure that the trailer is for me in this scenario not in the picture. In addition to all of that money is an issue so the idea of storing the trailer for some unforseen period of time is not good. Is it possible to sell such a trailer in its present state?

I guess the answer is " no you cannot sell this partial build".

6 hours on a Sunday afternoon is not the best period in which to make a judgment call...

Any well built trailer, completed or not will likely sell.
The real question is how long to you have to attempt to get your price, and what is it you want/need to get out of it.

In answer to your question, yes, it is possible to sell your trailer in its current state.

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

Your right six hours is not that long. Football games on as well.

I suspect I will find out about this job in the next couple of weeks. I am going to use that time to try to resolve the exterior of the trailer at least. I figure it will not be as much of a project trailer at that point and will aid in making it more attractive to a buyer. I am about $1,500 into it and would not expect to get it out of the sale. I just would want someone to complete it if I am not able to.

If you can at least finish the outside you will greatly improve what you will recover in my opinion. Even if you can just skin the outside and paint it. If it is weather proof selling should be easier. Plus it can always be covered with aluminum later.

I have sheathed one side of the trailer today. I hope to in a week have the exterior all covered in the 1/4" plywood. But the problem is that this trailer is..well..a bit unique. It is not going to appeal to everyone. Like Slowcowboy for instance..

Yea I was following your other post about the custom floor, drain pan, what ever you call it and it did seems like this was designed around your needs and wants.

Like I would never want an indoor bathroom shower.

Well exactly. My build is not going to appeal to the widest swatch of people. Even thought it is extremely cool. 8)

One thing appealing about the trailer is the state its in. We can see the state its in, but we don't know what state your in. One's a condition and the other is a location. Don't you love the english language as we have twisted it?

My wife does M&A at her company. At the last company they bought, they offered jobs to the new employees. Several didn't take the relo because they either couldn't sell their house or would have lost too much on it. You may want to check into their relo package before you decide.
