Acron 133 Back In Action

Postby Lazybones » Sun Dec 18, 2011 6:58 pm

I had this Acron lantern. But; It had several cracks in the Fount. A few weeks ago I posted in the Coleman Collectors Forum that I needed one. Another member sold me a fount and now she is back to life. I wouldn't call this a restoration. More like a clean up. Restoration would require a renickle.
Here is a before picture.

I don't think it's luck. To me it's just where I focus my attention. When you focus on somthing they just show up. Kind of like when you get a different car. You start spotting them everywhere.

I agree...I've seen Lee step in dog crap and have it turn to gold before he could scrape it off! This cat finds all sorts of nice stuff! I don't wanna go to a flea market with him....I won't get jack!

Great lantern Lee...it just looks great! Doug

How do you explain winning stuff in raffles, then?? It's luck. You are just lucky. Face it.

I win plenty at raffles, too. But when you are around, you win more. And believe me, I'm focused. I thrift every weekend and look for only a few things. And I rarely find camping equipment outside someones' used sleeping bag (eeewww!)

I've been looking for toas-tites for years. Waffle dogs and lanterns for months. Other things not of this board for years...maybe decades...still no dice.

Face it. You are lucky.

See! He's just in denial. He's lucky. Everyone knows it. And everyone we know in the scooter scene says it couldn't happen to a better guy.

I have felt if I didn't like Lee so much for being such a good person I would hate him for his luck. But when Lee wins something you just can't help but be happy for him and say "It couldn't happen to a better guy!"

Are there raffles at the Dam Gathering??

Yup...there is a raffle at the Dam....I guess I can't complain about Lee...I usually give my tickets away to Sue and Shelly, maybe that's why I don't win....go figgur'. I always like Lee's explanation..."I just stuck 1 ticket in cuz I thought it was cool"....and next thing you know..he owns it! Doug

I wondered why my ears were burning.

Where I feel I'm lucky is the great friends I have!

That's Lee alright!!!

So...what kind of stuff goes in this raffle? And how can we donate? I guess I should talk to Grant.

Lee: what year is that lantern? Looks great...and old! I do love history and old stuff. I just have to draw the line somewhere or I'd end up on "Hoarders" or whatever that show is...

I'm trying to limit my camping stuff to 60's and 70's. Coleman, etc. can be 50's-70's. I really like the stuff you and Doug collect but it wouldn't go with my setup, so I see no reason I should have it. I'm not into the 'bragging rights' thing...or I would have all kinds of stuff that I really don't need. Not that I 'need' a teardrop trailer, or a 502 stove, or any lanterns. But I don't vacation, in Europe or anywhere else, so a bit of stuff so I can go on weekend trips is good fun for me, without breaking the bank.

Good friends are worth more than anything. And I'm hoping to find more at the Dam Gathering!

Just about anything is a great addition to the raffle. I've always tried to put in camping related items...first aid kit, fire extinguisher, a galley gadget, but have done up stoves and lanterns for giveaways as well. Some people put in their own artwork/needlework/woodwork etc...Grant puts in some great trailer parts. The raffle at the IRG is humongous!!!! Since I've been an announcer in the past...I go hoarse since there is so many items to give away. To donate, just bring your item to the gathering. Doug

Thanks Doug! I have a vintage 'Betty Crocker Outdoor Cookbook' that I'd like to throw in..and I'll try to find stuff to bundle it with. I'm always looking for RV/camping cookbooks, dishes for trailers, etc. If the winner doesn't need it then they can pass it on to a newby who needs it.

If everyone pitches in and helps then we are all 'Happy Campers'!!
