+1 on Bottom Dollar Surplus. I've purchased a half-dozen items from them, all were as advertised. Quick shipping.

Does anyone know if Bottom Dollar allows local pickup? I have a trip to Elkhart planned for a couple months from now, and they are only about 50 miles away. If I was planning to buy several windows, I would save quite a bit of shipping.

Buyer beware!
Just for grins I looked through a number of the web sites and noted that prices were no better than you can get new from other sources in a number of instances. As an example a couple of the sites offer Elixier converters/power centers. A) you do not want one, poor quality and B) the prices are no better than you can get elsewhere.
I am sure you can get some bargains but I for one would seriously do my homework first and would what to be able to put my hands on whatever it is before buying. Do you Homework!

I agree - of the list I posted, I have only used the RV Doctor as the yard is only a few miles away from me so I can look/touch before buying.

I am building/modifying an old El Camino, and belong to several forums for that, so I already know that not every state has these. Here in WV however, we have recycling centers. Not just the little ones where you can take your aluminum cans in for some $$, but great big ones that take industrial scraps, whole cars, and all kinds of big stuff. Here in WV, you can go into them, look around, and buy stuff back out of them for the scrap metal price. Last time I went, it was like $.28/lb for steel, .65/lb for Stainless Steel, and around $6/lb for Copper. Price varies from month to month, week to week. Here, they don't charge for rubber, cloth, plastic, or glass. Talk nice and you can get those things for free.

So why am I bringing this up? Check out this link for a tour of the one I use (R.J.s Recycling in Nitro, WV....They also have a big yard up near Parkersburg). If this tour doesn't give you ideas, you may be unconscious!!

(all pictures are captioned, click on the 1st one, then use the next button)

They get so many refridgerators/stoves and other appliances in this yard, there is a separate area for you to leave them at, shelves and other parts are really cheap!

The R for Reuse should be first in the jingle, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Its the best way to save resources and energy. You've got access to a goldmine!

I built myself a welding cart for my new welder from stuff I got from the recycling center. I used 3 old bedrails (like for a bed you sleep on) to make the main framework. They're 2 X 2" angle (mild steel) and over 6' long each. I used an old grill from a big propane fired cooking grill (like for the back yard) for the bottom shelf in it, cause that would allow water and other "bits" to fall thru it and not build up on the shelf. All the wheels were free, cause they aren't metal. The materials for the whole cart cost me like $9.00. I can post build links if you wanna see.

The point is..........THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!
