Lockable storage for valuables?

Does anyone have suggestions on how to incorporate lockable storage in a tear? I'm mainly thinking about our wallets, cell phones, a flask or two of mouthwash (MD state parks are dry ), etc, when we're out adventuring. Right now I'm thinking a small, light "safe" would be the best solution? Carriage bolts and double nuts to a fixed 3/4" plywood shelf are how I'm thinking of mounting it. I know it wouldn't stop any serious attempt, just looking to make it more difficult than the next guy's.

Can't you just lock the stuff inside your tear?

If some unscruplious soul is gonna break into your trailer what do you think he is gonna do when he finds a "safe" solidly bolted to your 1/4" inner skin wall.

We talked about this about 2 years ago and discussed a hideaway spot built into the tear itsself. A sliding or hinged panel that appears to be fixed and immovable and looks to be a part of the build. Perhaps a battery box mounted under the trailer with a removable lid accessed under the mattress. A little imagination would easily allow a small void to be incorporated in the build that only the builder may ever know about.

Locks only keep honest people honest. I think a "hidden" compartment somewhere might be a better answer for some small items. No one can steal what they can't find.

Stickley (and other furniture makers) have secret compartments built into their furniture. We have a piece they made and it has such a compartment. I'll tell you what the piece is and where the compartment is, but then I'd have to $#** you to keep the secret.

I have mounted my safe to the flooring and frame and it's also hidden. If some thief pops open a door or busts a window (and even finds the safe) he's gonna have one heckuva time taking the valuables without using a cutting torch. Better than nothing I think and certainly better than the security of anything inside my tow vehicle.

Hmmm...

Jeepers commonly use a locked steel box on rails under the seats for secure storage. I'd bet a do it yourself kinda guy could mount one of these under the tear somewhere without any trouble.

I made a small "safe" out of a lockable door style electrical panel box.. you could easily pop the door with a screw driver but I figured nobody would think it was anything other that an electrical panel... I placed it right on the end of the dinette by the door just like it might be in a trailer.. thing I liked the best was it was easy to open without stepping inside..

I just lock stuff (cameras and laptop) in the car when I'm away from camp. I'd rather have my car broken into than my irreplaceable, unrepairable 63-year old teardrop.

As for my mouthwash, I just keep it out of sight, but don't bother locking it up. The keg of beer and beer taps are generally out on the picnic table anyway.

I have hid stuff behind the drawers as they are an inch or tow shorter than they space, I also have a removable shelf over, with an enclosed area that isn't readily noticable underneath.

The safe wouldn't be easy to remove from the mounting surface, and hopefully other campers would be suspicious of someone toting a battery-powered saw around camp. Under the mattress may work for some stuff, but I would like to be able to access the contents at night without getting out of bed.

CR has a space between the lower shelf inside and the bottom where the LED wires for lights and antennas are run. This leaves a space for money a set of keys etc. The only problem would be if some one stole the trailer

That's pretty much what I do also. At least it has an alarm. It may not stop them but hopefully it will make enough noise for a fellow camper to take notice.
