Doug I was thinking about doing some drive way camping over the holidays in our new trailer but with the temps being in the low 20s and freezing fog i think i will do some house camping instead and clean up the 2 240C lanterns i picked up a few weeks ago

If I get my lantern put back together and it lights then I'll light mine...and start up the stove, too.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but could you guys explain what the rules of 'garage camping' or 'driveway camping' are??? I'll run this topic over to the Campfire...just let me grab a couple of marshmallows and I'll meet you there.

Slow..I'm going to work on the lantern this afternoon. I think I'm getting the rechargeable pack for my Coleman LED lanterns on Christmas..or at least some D batteries. So if I can get that rechargeable battery pack juiced up by the end of the day on Christmas, I'll at least have an LED to light up!!

Next year..do you want to do this on the winter solstice? Since people are busy or visiting family on Christmas? It would celebrate longer days ahead..and the approach of warm camping season! Plus, those who don't celebrate Christmas might join in. We may get a lantern light going all over the world celebrating friendship and camping! Just a thought. :D

I was hoping some one was going ask what garage camping was because I was embarrassed to ask. So what is it?

DF - anytime is a good time to burn the lanterns. Let do both.

For those who will be out - just burn them when you can take pic then post them on Slows thread. Burn whenever - post on x-mas eve.

Thanks! I'm just a happy camper who wants everyone to gather around the campfire and roast a marshmallow together. No outside stuff: politics, religion, etc. Just celebrating camping and friendship. And trailers!!!!

the lantern is reassembled. Kitchen smells like vinegar. BBs are out of the fount and either back in the box or out in the yard...just waiting for the lantern to dry out a bit and I'll locate the globe and fire it up!

Trial run for Slow's Lantern Light Night!!

So garage camping....it's just what it sounds like...

I've got my trailer in the garage...bed all made up, ready to go. I also have a wood burning stove in the garage. I build a fire, open the stove door...open the garage door, sit in the chair in front of the stove, cook on the Coleman stoves, light with a lantern, sleep in the trailer. Some people driveway camp...back yard camp etc....I do it in the garage, since I need to swap wheels to get this trailer out of the garage.

I always have the bed made up in the trailer...great for naps. I can run the temp up in the garage to mid 70's...go to bed, it's warm all night, just like camping here in the summer. My dog used to love garage camping. Any time you get to spend the night in your trailer is good! Doug

So you spend the time outside or in/next to the trailer...you cook out there? Are you allowed to run to the fridge or do you pack a cooler and hang out in the garage/yard unless you need to use the bathroom?

I'm thinking of hitting up my neighbor for driveway camping later on. I'm not sure he'll go for it, but maybe we can even have the fire pit out there at night. I think it would be fun. I'm assuming this places you off limits for the 'honey-do' list. You're out camping, right???

We did a patio camping last weekend, very fun. We may do a Coleman light up, we only have two but it's quality not quantity, right?
