I'd like to convert a Maglite from incandescent into LED?

I already have a 4D LED Maglite, and it's bright, but it's not that bright. I'm guessing about 100 lumens or so.

So is there a way to increase my lumens? Oh, as an afterthought, I'd like my flashlight to run for more than 30 seconds on a single charge!!!

What do you think?

I put a 3 LED Terralux bulb upgrade in one, can't remember where I got it exactly. There are a ton of them out there, just google search for

maglite terralux upgrade

Way brighter and batteries seem to last longer

I was just looking at doing the same thing to my 3D cell Mag lite. From what I read the Terralux bulb is not as good as the current one used in the Mag lite, plus the price is fairly high. You can buy a new 3D cell with the latest version of the LED bulb for $25 I am still trying to decide which way to go.

I just saw the 3D cell LED at Home Depot. It looks like 104 lumens.

Assuming there is a kernel of reality in that statement...maybe your rechargeable batteries are about finished?

I get several months worth of occasional use from my 4 cell Maglite, though I'm using regular batteries.

Seems like the led's get a little better and brighter every year...hopefully they will find the magic formula soon!

LOL Rob,

My LED flashlight lasts for months with occasional use. But the idea of an upgrade is very enticing. But my fear is that upgrading to 1000 lumens, for example, would reduce my battery life to nil.

Yes, all my batteries are rechargeable, but I only have D, C, AA, and AAA. If I have to buy one of those new fangled 18650 batteries, I'll need a new charger too.

Is that what you guys recommend?

Mike, I recently bought 2 of these http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire- ... light-3371 they are the BRIGHTEST flashlites I have ever used and are brighter thatn what the add states...Dealextreme is a great vendor but they ship from China and can take 2-4weeks to deliver...they all sell the modules for upgrading Maglites from several manufacturers...with my e-cigarettes, I use the 18650, 14650 and 14500 lithium ion batts and just love them...DealExtreme has extremely good deals on these as well...the Trustfire batts are one of the best manufacturers another is AW, UltraFires are good as well but beware of counterfeiters... http://www.supertmanufacturing.com/id82.html ... http://www.avidvaper.com/categories/Bat ...
