Assuming there is a kernel of reality in that statement...maybe your rechargeable batteries are about finished?
I get several months worth of occasional use from my 4 cell Maglite, though I'm using regular batteries.
Seems like the led's get a little better and brighter every year...hopefully they will find the magic formula soon!

My LED flashlight lasts for months with occasional use. But the idea of an upgrade is very enticing. But my fear is that upgrading to 1000 lumens, for example, would reduce my battery life to nil.
Yes, all my batteries are rechargeable, but I only have D, C, AA, and AAA. If I have to buy one of those new fangled 18650 batteries, I'll need a new charger too.
Is that what you guys recommend?
