Hello, from Seattle

Hello everyone,

Just saying hi. I've been searching for a travel trailer, and came upon teardrops as a viable option. At first I was looking for tent trailers, but I like the quality and function of a hard sided trailer. I am looking for a small trailer because I have a Subaru and don't want to weigh it down or burn out my transmission. And the reason for getting a trailer - well, I am taking a step back from working 65+ hours a week, my lease is ending and I just don't feel like renting another place to live. I spend most of my free time camping anyways, so I think it's time for a bit of leisure and minimalist living (my calling, I suppose). Anyways, I'm going to be lurking the classifieds and possibly asking questions you've all heard plenty of times. I'll try to reduce the redundancy by reading before asking. Anyways, thanks!

Welcome to the forum! If you are looking to live in this trailer, that's a tall order for a Subie to haul. A TD is too small for living full time. A Skamp would be my choice.

I'm looking at Scamps as well. The space issue doesn't bother me too much, I really just need a place to keep dry in the inclement weather, and a place to sleep. I'm trying to spend under $5,000 and Scamps in good condition seem to be a bit more than this. The biggest factor for me is if I need to bring it into Seattle, I don't want to get stuck, unable to park with a large tow. And yeah... Subies aren't exactly towing machines but I've seen smaller cars tow an impressive load. Anywho, I'll keep an eye out for a good Scamp, and other ultra light campers.

Hi, Gope

We have a member here who has been living in a cargo trailer conversion for a while. This will be his second winter, as I recall. Here's a link to a recent thread. You might want to check out his experiences.
