interesting sub-set of restaurant ware, Doug! I have some restaurant ware..mostly Polynesian style restaurants (tie-in with tiki mugs..) and SF Bay restaurants (Spengers)..lots of restaurant ware coffee mugs.

Kirk: are you sure you need to sell the Hondas to fit in a lantern or two?

Would have loved to check out the matchbook collection...I have some to go with the above collection(s)...

Hope you find all the lanterns and stoves you are looking for! You do a great job restoring them or making them look like they should have!

Produce Seals... ...commonly referred to as "banana labels". The Produce Seal Society (also known as PSS2) began as a fringe group of the Precancelled Stamp Society (PSS). Some rather influential members expressed a desire to set up "standards" as to how a precancelled stamp collection should be organized and displayed. In protest, some members added Chiquita labels to their collections. A few people thought that the banana labels made a nice display, and started collecting produce seals.

It was interesting to find that in the first year and a half of collecting, I found over a hundred different varieties of Chiquita banana labels alone.

View a produce seal "catalog" at:

The "Past New Additions" go all the way back to the beginning in 1995.

GINGERBREAD .... no not the cake , but anything with gingerbread boys & girls, gingerbread houses .. I just love it ! I have been collecting it for almost 20 years and am to the point of looking for old cookie jars and things, but also looking for the unusual . My boyfriend says he found an ornament onlline that he KNOWS I don't have ... is that possible?

It's not just out at Christmastime.... My kitchen and dining room has plates, cookie jars, the side of the fridge is all magnets and hot pads , I have an entire shelf full of mugs and cups... and 2 10ft shelves in the dining area FULL of clocks, cookie jars, candles, mugs, pitchers , figurines .... and there's ton more I don't have room for.
Lenox, Frankoma pottery, Fitz & Floyd ... some of those are pricey, but I love my $1 ornaments and garage sale finds just as much! I collect it because I love it , not for the value.

SO if you have anything gingerbread-y laying around, you know where to send it ! Seriously!

Julie

here's one pic ... yes , it's store gift cards that have gingerbread! I have enough now that I'm going to drill a tiny hole in each one and have a little 3 ft tree with nothing but gift card ornaments!!!! I'll keep adding those so if your local store has some like this ask if you can have one (for me)

Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

I've been collecting books for well ovber 33yrs (I was 7 when I bought my first) and until earlier this yr had somewhere around 10000 books. I went thru this spring and pulled about 200 of my favoites out and donated the rest to a couple of local library's. Then I have my lighthouse collection that I had been crazy for obout 15yrs but stopped picking anymore of them up because Sheri and I both hate to dust also.

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

Mine would be un-finnished (and un-started) projects. I was going to say dust, but someone beat me to that one.

Did you say weird collection of items?

One of my coworkers has a drawer in his toolbox dedicated to his clipped toenails, fingernails and nosehair.

Weird? Yes he is. :?

Do we stay out of his toolbox? Yes we do....

I collect bottle openers(church keys), mostly advertising different brands of beer.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Got a PM from Baz over on www.garagejournal.com (he comes on here as well.

This was after I had posted Nicola's collection of pipes and smoking related items, and she is still collecting.

Anyway, He had his great uncles smoking cabinet that he had rescued when his dad who is 80+ cleared out the garage.

Would I be interested in it for Nicola ? Of course I PM'd back.

Today Nicola and I went over to Bicester near Oxford impulsively around midday. So I texted him on the way to see if we could pop in at his place on the way home, which we then did.

This is the cabinet, not large, but very pretty, in need of a new shelf, some cleaning and a gentle touch up.

It is also in excess of 100 years old, so will be treasured.

I thought I would post in this thread, rather than start a new thread for it, as I will be making a new shelf etc for it.

I love the detail of the carved panels on the doors/

Image

Once you open it, some shelves, drawers. The rack on the right door is missing, and Nicola already said one of her tobacco bowls will go inside on the shelf.

Image

I trust most people will approve.

Once again Thanks Baz.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

And then we got home from Oxford and watford to find a big, well packed box in the secure place behind the house.

After posting the weird collection thread recently, I hada PM from David aka PodBod on the UK Teardrop site, to see if I was interested in buying some Meerschaum pipes.... pics followed and a very reasonable price agreed, he also very generously threw in 3 pipe stands.
Interestingly, Nicola had just started looking for another pipe stand for some of her better clay pipes, so these were perfectly timed.

I let her unpack the "late Christmas/early Birthday" prezzie..... and the look on her face was worth the price.

Pics to tell the story.

Turban guy, used, very nice.

Pattern, new, unused, very nice.

Indian head/Native American chief head, used, lovely.

Used, magnificent detail, my favourite.

Weird collection, undoubtedly, value to me having a happy wife? Priceless.

Thanks David for making it possible.

Well, +1 for dust!! Underneath that dust are props from haunted houses (the Halloween type).

Currently antique glass embalming fluid bottles and Ouija Boards.

My Collection

Postby nrody » Sat Dec 31, 2011 9:24 pm

I collect deviled egg plates. I do not have any photos, sorry. I have about 30 different deviled egg plates and it is all my mom's fault. She always made deviled eggs for parties and had a plate she got for a wedding present. When mom moved into an assisted living facility she gave me her plate. Then I kept finding them when I would go to estate sales. Love estate sales by the way. I do not think I paid more than $5 for any of them.
